In this role, you will partner with engineering, infrastructure, and security teams to define cloud architectures that align with company standards and enable teams to deliver applications safely and efficiently in Azure. This is an opportunity to influence enterprise-level cloud design while working within a collaborative, pragmatic architecture team at a global professional services organization.
Responsibilities
- Design and review secure, scalable cloud architectures primarily in Microsoft Azure, with consideration for multi-cloud patterns.
- Provide architecture guidance and design recommendations for application teams migrating to or building in the cloud.
- Ensure proposed designs and cloud solutions align with security policies, architectural standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with Cloud Engineering, Security, Networking, and Application teams to translate business requirements into technical cloud designs.
- Define and document reference architectures, design patterns, and best practices for cloud services such as virtual networks and connectivity, identity and access management, key and secrets management and compute, storage, and platform services
- Participate in architecture reviews, threat-aware design discussions, and solution approvals.
- Maintain and evolve internal intranet documentation related to cloud standards, approved architectures, and implementation guidance ensuring it current, usable, and trusted across the organization.
- Ensure application teams receive clear, actionable architectural guidance that accelerates delivery.
- Stay current with cloud service capabilities and technology trends to recommend architectural and security best practices.
- Adhere to company's confidentiality, data-handling, and ethical standards when accessing systems, client data, and architecture materials.
Requirements:
- 35 years of demonstrable experience designing or supporting solutions in cloud environments.
- Strong practical experience with Microsoft Azure, including most services such as Compute (VMs, Containers), Web App Services, Storage services, Key Vault and secrets management and identity concepts (Microsoft Entra ID / Azure AD)
- Good working knowledge of cloud networking principles and technologies.
- Working knowledge of secure cloud design principles, such as Identityfirst and leastprivilege access, network segmentation, and encryption in transit and at rest
- Ability to interpret and apply security policies and standards to realworld cloud designs.
- Experience producing architecture diagrams, design documents, and technical guidance for a broad audience.
- Understanding of enterprise environments with regulatory, risk, or compliance considerations.
- Understanding security technology such as vulnerability management, cloud posture, security frameworks and application security.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to explain architectural decisions to both technical and nontechnical stakeholders.
- Ability to operate reasonably independently, proactively engaging stakeholders to clarify requirements, recommend solutions, and drive decisions forward.
- Certifications such as Azure Solutions Architect, Azure Security Engineer, or similar (not required)
- Knowledge of DevSecOps principles beneficial
