Job Description

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Clinical Documentation Improvement (CDI) Team Leader to lead a team of CDI Specialists supporting US healthcare clients. In this role, you will oversee clinical documentation quality, mentor team members, ensure compliance with industry standards, and collaborate with onshore stakeholders to drive documentation excellence and revenue cycle performance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of CDI Specialists through regular feedback and performance management.
  • Monitor daily workloads, productivity, and documentation quality.
  • Oversee concurrent and retrospective reviews of medical records to ensure accurate and complete clinical documentation.
  • Review and guide compliant physician queries in accordance with AHIMA and ACDIS standards.
  • Collaborate with Coding, HIM, Case Management, and US-based CDI teams to support accurate documentation and coding.
  • Conduct quality audits, identify documentation improvement opportunities, and ensure compliance with HIPAA and client requirements.
  • Prepare productivity and quality reports and support process improvement initiatives.
  • Assist with onboarding, training, and continuous development of team members.

Qualification:

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing, Physical Therapy, or another Allied Health discipline (required)
  • Medical degree (MD) is an advantage
  • CDI certification is preferred

Preferred Certifications

  • CCDS, CDIP, CCS, or CIC

Experience

  • 5–7 years of CDI experience supporting US healthcare organizations or BPO/KPO operations
  • 2–3 years in a Team Lead, Senior, or Supervisory CDI role
  • Strong knowledge of ICD-10-CM/PCS, DRG methodologies, and US healthcare revenue cycle
  • Experience with CDI platforms such as Solventum/3M, Nuance, Optum, Epic, or similar systems

  • Strong leadership and coaching abilities
  • Excellent clinical documentation, coding, and medical terminology knowledge
  • Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, and Teams)
