Job Description

Cleaner Responsibilities

  • Vacuuming, sweeping, and mopping floors of various types.
  • Dusting ceilings, light fittings, countertops, and loose furniture.
  • Scrubbing and sanitizing toilets, sinks, and kitchen fixtures.
  • Emptying trash cans.
  • Washing and drying windows.
  • Liaising with the line manager to ensure that you have sufficient cleaning products at all times.
  • Reporting any breakages that occur during the cleaning process.
  • Informing the line manager of repairs that need to be done.

Cleaner Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent is advantageous.
  • Proven experience in a similar role.
  • Able to use a variety of cleaning products and equipment.
  • Able to stand for extended periods of time.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Able to complete tasks on time with minimal supervision.
  • Available to work mornings and evenings, plus weekends, as needed.

The Cleaner is responsible for cleaning, stocking, and supplying designated facility areas (dusting, sweeping, vacuuming, mopping, etc.). It is this person who will also perform deep cleaning tasks and special projects. May have additional cleaning duties specific to the restaurant.

Essential Job Functions

  • Clean and supply designated facility areas
  • Perform various cleaning actions such as dusting, sweeping, vacuuming, mopping, cleaning ceiling vents, restroom cleaning etc.
  • Perform and track routine inspections
  • Perform and track maintenance activities
  • Stock and maintain supply rooms
  • Safely and effectively use and operate all necessary tools and equipment
  • Maintain cleaning equipment and communicate any potential issues to Management
  • Identify cleaning supplies and notify Management when running low
  • Empty garbage and keep garbage areas clean and covered
  • Effectively communicate to perform and follow job requirements in written and spoken direction
  • Communicate effectively and courteously with co-workers
  • Other duties will be assigned as needed

Must Be Willing And Able To

  • Meet personal schedule requirements punctually
  • Available to work a variety of hours, days and shifts, including weekends
  • Work in a confined space with variable noise and temperature levels
  • Comply with all safety and sanitation guidelines and procedures
  • Follow all rules, policies, procedures, and conditions of employment, including those outlined in the Employee Handbook
  • Promote an atmosphere of teamwork by assisting co-workers
  • Be courteous, friendly, and pleasant
  • Accept constructive criticism and adjust/change behavior based on this feedback
  • Stand and walk for an entire shift
  • Safely move about in all areas of the restaurant
  • Lift and carry items weighing up to 30 lbs.
  • Frequently bend, stoop, reach, push, lift, carry, pour and wipe
