Job Summary
The Chief Wholesale Credit Officer is responsible for overseeing the evaluation, approval, and monitoring of credit risk across Commercial, Corporate, and Institutional accounts. This executive role ensures the integrity of risk ratings, promotes credit quality, and safeguards the bank against potential losses by providing independent credit assessments, reviewing industry developments, and maintaining compliance with regulatory and internal risk frameworks.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Evaluate credit risk for Commercial, Corporate, Institutional, and Group accounts.
- Review and approve special transactions, project finance proposals, and term loans.
- Ensure accuracy of risk ratings, financial data, and RAAC sheets.
- Conduct timely credit reviews and identify early signs of weak credit.
- Approve credit lines and loan transactions within lending limits.
- Provide independent credit assessments for business proposals.
- Monitor industry and market trends to reassess borrower risks.
- Strengthen credit control processes to minimize losses.
- Oversee credit documentation and perform Crecom Secretariat functions.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in finance, Business, Economics, or related field.
- Minimum of 35 years of executive-level banking experience with exposure to Corporate/Commercial Banking.
- Broad understanding of technical and professional advances, business strategies, market trends, and competitor developments.
- Strong analytical skills with expertise in financial statements and accounting ratios.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective stakeholder engagement.
- Self-motivated, results-oriented, and a strong team player with leadership capabilities.
