The Category Merchandising Manager is a vital role in forecasting, buying, and allocating items for our various Retail Affiliates. You will be responsible in conceptualizing merchandising strategies to achieve sales, assorting goals and margin standards at an optimum inventory level. You'll also engage in supplier negotiations, product development, explore new trends and sources for new suppliers and present your strategies to top management.
Job Responsibilities:
- Supervises buying and duties of merchandise assistants.
- Forecasts departmental sales and margin goals.
- Develops merchandise strategy for the department thus achieving sales and assortment goals margin standards at minimum inventory and markdown.
- Controls open-to-buy, stock level and deliveries to stay within plans thus increasing turnover.
- Negotiates with vendors for affordable costs, terms, and discounts.
- Visits warehouse and stock rooms to ensure product quality, proper replenishment and display of merchandise.
- Visits stores to check assortments of merchandise, display and old season merchandise.
- Consults with store managers and other sales personnel on problems and suggestions.
- Canvasses competitors regularly to evaluate their assortments, prices and merchandise presentation
- Continuously explores new trends and new suppliers.
- Prepares promotional plans, notes and analyzes results for future planning.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Retail Management, Management Business, or any related field.
- At least 2 years of experience in buying, merchandising, or category management.
- Strong negotiation, presentation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to speak in Mandarin/Fookien is highly advantageous
- Willingness to travel for store and warehouse visits.
