Job Description

I. Job Summary

The Buyback Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing all buyback operations in the pawnshop. This role ensures that customers can reclaim pledged items under fair and transparent terms, while maintaining compliance with pawnshop regulations and company policies. The Buyback Manager supervises staff, manages cash flow, and ensures accurate valuation of items to build customer trust and sustain profitability.

Iii. Specific Duties And Responsibilities

  • Supervise and manage all buyback transactions, ensuring accuracy and compliance with pawnshop rules.
  • Oversee appraisal of items (e.g., jewelry, gadgets, appliances) to determine fair buyback value.
  • Communicate clearly with customers regarding buyback terms, interest, fees, and deadlines.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and records of buyback agreements, receipts, and customer identification.
  • Coordinate with finance to monitor cash flow and ensure funds are available for buyback transactions.
  • Train and guide staff on proper buyback procedures and customer service standards.
  • Prepare reports on buyback volumes, revenues, and customer trends for management review.
  • Monitor market prices (gold, electronics, etc.) to adjust valuations and ensure competitiveness.
  • Recommend process improvements to enhance efficiency and customer satisfaction.

Iv. Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, or related field (preferred but not always required)
  • Certifications in customer service, compliance, or financial management are desirable.
  • Strong knowledge of pawnshop regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Excellent analytical, negotiation, and customer service skills.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills to manage staff and interact with customers.
  • Ability to evaluate and appraise items such as jewelry, gadgets, appliances, and other pledged assets.
  • Understanding of cash flow management and risk assessment in buyback operations.

V. Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, or related field (preferred but not always required).
  • At least 23 years of experience in pawnshop operations, finance, or asset management.
  • Proven track record in buyback transactions, item valuation, and customer service.
  • Experience supervising staff and managing branch-level operations is a plus.
