Job Summary:
The Business Intelligence (BI) Developer analyzes, designs, develops, and maintains data analytics and reporting systems, with a focus on executive-level dashboards and business performance insights. This role involves understanding and documenting existing data flows and reporting processes, identifying inefficiencies in data collection and visualization, proposing and implementing scalable BI solutions, developing optimized data models and dashboards using Microsoft Power BI, writing advanced SQL queries, collaborating with backend developers within a Laravel (PHP) and MySQL environment, integrating data from Google Workspace and third-party SaaS tools, and working closely with stakeholders to ensure reporting solutions support strategic and operational decision-making.
Required Skill:
- Minimum 1 year of experience in Business Intelligence (BI)
- Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Power BI
- Advanced DAX formulas and calculations
- Data modeling (star schema, relationships, normalization concepts)
- Dashboard performance optimization
- Power BI Service administration and publishing
- Strong SQL skills (MySQL preferred)
- Experience working with relational databases and backend systems
- Experience building executive-level dashboards and KPI reporting systems
- Strong understanding of ETL/ELT processes
- Experience integrating data from third-party SaaS tools
- Knowledge of data visualization best practices
- Understanding of KPI frameworks and business performance metrics
- Experience implementing data governance and access controls
Additional Skills:
- Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git).
- Basic understanding of web security principles.
- Experience with API integration is a plus.
Duties and responsibilities:
1. BI Architecture & Dashboard Development
- Design, develop, and maintain advanced dashboards using Microsoft Power BI
- Build executive-level reporting systems for financial, operational, and product performance
- Create scalable and optimized data models
- Establish BI best practices and reporting standards
2. Data Management & Integration
- Extract, transform, and model data from MySQL databases
- Collaborate with Laravel (PHP) backend developers to optimize data structures for reporting
- Integrate data from:
a. Google Workspace (Sheets, Drive, etc.)
b. 1Password (where applicable for reporting use cases)
c. Other third-party SaaS platforms
- Develop automated data refresh and transformation workflows
3. Analytics Strategy & Business Alignment
- Partner with leadership to define measurable KPIs
- Identify gaps in data tracking and recommend improvements
- Translate business requirements into technical BI solutions
- Provide actionable insights through clear data storytelling
4. Governance, Performance & Optimization
- Implement role-based access controls and data security best practices
- Ensure data accuracy, reliability, and consistency
- Monitor dashboard performance and optimize refresh cycles
- Maintain documentation, data dictionaries, and reporting standards
5. Teamwork and Collaboration
