Job Description

The Business Development Officer/Manager for Primer Ace Philippines Inc. (PAPI) evaluates existing retail operations and B2B sales frameworks to pinpoint operational efficiencies and unlock new avenues for revenue growth and profitability. He/she will sit at the intersection of strategic market expansion, corporate account acquisition, and daily operational efficiency—responsible for identifying new commercial opportunities across retail, digital, and corporate channels while ensuring that brick-and-mortar and multi-channel operations execute brand visions perfectly and maximize profitability.

Market Penetration & Strategy Development

  • Design and execute a strategic Go-To-Market (GTM) business development plan targeting Japanese-owned and Japanese-managed companies operating in the Philippines.
  • Prospect and map key target sectors, including Economic Zone/PEZA manufacturing entities (CALABARZON, Clark, Subic), corporate headquarters in Metro Manila, Japanese trading houses (Sogo Shosha), and logistics hubs.
  • Build and maintain a robust sales pipeline to achieve aggressive revenue, margin, and market penetration targets.

Stakeholder Engagement & Network Building

  • Act as the primary face of PAPI to Japanese C-suite executives, General Managers, Procurement Directors, and Administrative Heads.
  • Actively engage with Japanese business institutions, including the Japanese Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Philippines (JCCI), Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO), and related trade associations to establish brand presence and secure high-value referrals.
  • Seamlessly manage dual-layer client relationships: conducting executive-level rapport building with Japanese leadership while negotiating commercial specs with local Filipino procurement and supply chain leads.

Consultative B2B Sales Execution

  • Present tailored product solutions, commercial pitches, and bulk procurement proposals designed around Japanese corporate standards and purchasing frameworks.
  • Navigate consensus-driven approval cycles (Ringi-sho) and conduct pre-proposal groundwork (Nemawashi) to align internal stakeholders before final contract execution.
  • Lead contract negotiations, pricing strategy, payment terms, and service level agreements (SLAs) in full alignment with PAPI management.

Account Onboarding & Cross-Functional Coordination

  • Collaborate closely with PAPI's internal teams (Supply Chain, Product Development, Logistics, Finance) to ensure flawless execution, quality control, and on-time delivery.
  • Conduct regular Quarterly Business Reviews (QBRs) and account health check-ins to secure repeat volume orders and multi-year contract renewals.
  • Serve as an internal escalation point for client feedback, resolving service or product inquiries with the speed and attention to detail expected in Japanese business culture.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Marketing, International Relations, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of B2B sales / Business Development experience in the Philippines, with a proven track record of meeting or exceeding corporate revenue quotas.
  • Must be willing to do field work as necessary.
  • With background or interest in Japan culture.

Work Arrangement

  • Semi-flexible full onsite schedule in Malate, Manila.
