The Business Development Manager leads and manages the sales team to drive revenue through new business acquisition and client retention. Key responsibilities include:
Overseeing day-to-day sales operations and ensuring team compliance with defined sales processes.
Reviewing, approving, or disapproving proposals within approved limits and endorsing pricing/benefit recommendations for account closure or renewal.
Planning, monitoring, and evaluating strategic acquisition and retention programs for clients.
Ensuring completeness and accuracy of all submitted account documents before processing with relevant departments (Actuarial, Underwriting, QRFT, Account Management).
Monitoring team performance against sales targets, KPIs, and KRAs, and providing coaching or mentoring to address competency gaps.
Collaborating with Account Management Support and other department heads to resolve operational concerns and escalate critical account issues.
Experience & Qualifications
Minimum 57 years of experience in HMO, healthcare, or general insurance sales and business development.
Proven track record in new business acquisition and client retention.
Strong leadership skills with experience managing and coaching a sales team.
Familiarity with pricing, benefits structuring, and proposal evaluation.
Solid understanding of insurance products, underwriting processes, and regulatory compliance.
