Description
The principal responsibility of the Business Development Manager is focused on growing awareness, consideration, preference and first purchase. On occasion they may be asked to support on repeat purchase where it involves new decision-making units or subject to Client Teams capacity.
Key Responsibilities
Inbound enquiries
Responsible for working with the relevant Client Teams to produce an effective, commercially compelling, and credible response based on our brand positioning and solutions portfolio. This includes, but is not limited to, fielding initial contacts, producing proposals including administrative procurement tasks, and pitching in collaboration with the relevant Client Teams. It may involve an element of on-boarding to ensure a smooth client experience.
Outbound enquiries
- Work closely with the Client Teams to understand growth plans, target relevant prospects and opportunities for growth and work alongside to support that growth. This could include, but is not limited to, outbound actions such as sharing materials, event invitations, attending conferences or other events etc.
- To be successful, the Business Development Manager must be a good collaborator, take clear ownership of the responsibilities and hold people accountable to theirs, have a passionate approach to winning work and advocate for our brand to a variety of different audiences.
The Business Development Manager can broadly expect the role to be split into 3 areas:
Lead Management & Pipeline Support (40%)
- Identify target prospects and growth areas with the relevant business director(s).
- Agree prospecting territories (sector, market appropriate strategies, specific brands as relevant).
- Take ownership of outbound actions in partnership with the relevant Client Teams agreeing cadence of actions and ways of working. The intent is to tap into warm connections of the BD Manager and Client Teams to accelerate success
- Act as the first point of contact for digital and marketing-generated leads: qualify, engage, and nurture them through initial conversations.
- Maintain impeccable hygiene in HubSpot (CRM): update contact details, deal stages, activities, and notes to ensure a single source of truth.
- Proactively create and manage targeted contact lists from HubSpot and through engagement with our Consulting (CST) staff.
- Contact potential and existing clients to schedule meetings for the BD Director.
Proposal & Content Development Support (40%)
- Support the BD Director in developing sector-specific materials: Points of View (POVs), case studies, and credential decks.
- Assist in the creation of proposals and presentations, including designing clear charts and visuals.
- Compile and share relevant examples of past work for client engagements.
- Administer meetings and create customized credential decks, incorporating category insights to add a consultative edge.
Administrative & Strategic Support (20%)
- Provide high-level support to the BD Director, ensuring they have the right materials and information for client engagements.
- Share materials and insights with clients and prospects as guided by the BD Director.
Reporting to the head of Growth, KPIs will include:
- sales interactions
- proposal writing & conversion
- pitch & procurement contributions
- representation and advocacy of the brand at events and more widely
- delivering a great experience of our brand in interactions to encourage long-term relationships.
Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
- Ambitious and growth oriented business developer looking to develop a strong network, ideally across multiple sectors: FMCG, Technology & Services, Media & Entertainments and Consumer Healthcare. You see this as a stepping stone into a director level BD role
- High level of proactivity, energy, and professionalism. Quick learner eager to understand the needs of prospects and clients
- Meticulous & Organized: You take pride in flawless execution, whether it's managing a CRM, organizing an event, or preparing a client deck.
- A Great Communicator: You are articulate, professional, and confident in reaching out to clients and collaborating with internal teams. Good at story telling to land key messages with impact. Use your communication skills to network across multiple stakeholders
- 2+ years of experience in market research on the agency side.
- Fluent in English
- Proven ability to manage multiple tasks and projects with high attention to detail.
- A demonstrably proactive and can-do attitude.
- High comfort level with technology and basic design skills (CRM systems, PowerPoint, Excel).
- Ability to work independently in a remote setting across APAC time zones.
Nice to Haves:
- Experience with HubSpot or a similar CRM system
- Previous exposure to the market research, consulting, or insights industry would be an advantage.
- Experience in supporting event management.
