The Business Analyst in the BI function plays a pivotal role in enabling data-driven decision-making across the firm. As the first contact for ad hoc analysis, this position partners with stakeholders to understand business needs and deliver analysis. Their focus is also on translating requirements into actionable solutions that deliver value, and champions the adoption and development of BI tools and best practices. Operating within an Agile development cycle, the Business Analyst ensures that solutions are delivered iteratively, efficiently, and in close collaboration with stakeholders. The role is integral to fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement, ensuring that data quality, governance, and ethical standards are upheld in all analytical activities.

The Roles And Responsibilities Of This Job Include
- Provide first-level support in the delivery of high-quality BI reports and services, with a focus on data analysis and data visualization for ad hoc and standardized reporting.
- Prepare ad hoc and standard analysis, including clear commentary and recommendations, in collaboration with key stakeholders.
- Elicit and document stakeholder pain points, process gaps, and improvement opportunities, translating them into clear, actionable work items for development.
- Engage with stakeholders to define, document, and prioritize business requirements, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives, and guides stakeholders on how data, analytics, and BI tools can be leveraged to solve business problems.
- Apply Agile project management practices, including participation in sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives, to ensure transparency, adaptability and iterative delivery of BI solutions that respond to evolving business needs and drive ongoing process and product improvements.
- Gather and incorporate user feedback in Agile cycles to continuously improve BI solutions and user experience.
- Analyze complex data sets to identify trends, patterns and insights that drive business performance, with a focus on Finance, HR/People, BD & Marketing and Knowledge data.
- Utilize existing data models and build ad hoc datasets using DAX and other query languages to support Power BI reporting.
- Take ownership of backlog items in the Agile development cycle, including participation in sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives.
- Support the planning, development and implementation of new Power BI reports and the enhancement of existing reports.
- Identify and document data pain points, process gaps, and improvement opportunities and translate business challenges into clear, actionable work items for development and collaborate with developers and data engineers to recommend and implement remediation steps that deliver value.
- Monitor bugs, changes and enhancements for in-house reports and Power BI as a platform and communicate relevant updates to stakeholders.
- Understand data quality initiatives, including data lineage, metadata management, and remediation of data issues.
- Identify and recommend improvements to data collection, transformation, and analysis processes to enhance data quality, accuracy, and usability.
- Support change management activities for new or enhanced BI solutions, including stakeholder communications, user training, hypercare support and tracking of adoption and usage metrics.
- Deliver demos, create user guides, and capture user feedback to continuously improve BI solutions and user experience.
- Comfortable writing or reviewing basic SQL to validate logic and data
- Familiarity with cloud-based analytics platforms such as Databricks.
- Monitor industry trends, particularly in legal AI and analytics, to ensure the firm remains at the forefront of BI capabilities.
Qualifications And Skills
- 3 – 4+ years experience in hands-on business analysis, requirements gathering, and stakeholder management, with experience in professional services preferred
- System Experience: Excel, Power BI, DAX as a query language and formulaic language, Data Warehouse and Cubes, SQL, and VBA - an advantage
- Good system and database expertise in BI systems and applications specifically Power BI
- Detail oriented, good analytical and problem-solving skills; organized management of work and workload to meet specified timelines
- A strong understanding of Agile methodologies and processes
- Excellent team working and collaboration with others
- Good to excellent English language communication skills both oral and written
- Bachelor's degree in computing, Information Science or equivalent experience
