Position Description

The ideal candidate will have a background in IT Business Analysis and Application Support and with the ability to learn quickly the business and support applications from the inside out. The primary purpose of the position is working within the IT Group, providing global Business Analysis support coverage in accordance with Service Level Agreements. This position will work with multiple business units and the Technology Group. The Business Analyst will work closely with users and managers to gather system requirements, document system specifications and communicate requirements to Third Party Vendors where necessary.
Organizational Relationships
The Business Analyst will work closely with assigned IT Project Manager and business unit's managers to gather requirements, document specifications and communicate requirements to all project stakeholders. The role will be both technical and business orientated, as such requirements gathering can be system driven or business operationally driven. The Business Analyst is also responsible for assisting the project management teams that support the various initiatives within the multiple business units.
Principal Accountabilities
Requirements Gathering
- Consult with a range of stakeholders, through workshops & elicitation sessions to gather and document comprehensive requirements.
- Work with SMEs and Business Leads to understand and document current state processes to identify gaps, risks, and pain points.
- Analysing and modelling business processes to create a complete picture of workflows.
- Work with multiple product owners to write & develop clear, functional & non- functional user stories and acceptance criteria.
- Coordinate cross-functional business process mapping initiatives and continuous improvement efforts with various teams.
- Employ process modelling techniques to capture requirements. Work hand-in hand-hand with the Product Owners & Development teams to deliver process improvements.
- Identifying, tracking, and escalating risks and issues to the Project Coordinator, Project Manager, and Stakeholders.
- Produce detailed specifications for existing and new operational procedures and related system functionality.
- The specifications should help the development of related IT applications or business operational processes and reports for the business units.
Support / Development
- Develop and maintain a working knowledge of business rules and documentation of business processes as they pertain to the business to ensure accuracy, consistency, legal compliance, and data integrity.
- Coordinate with QA teams to provide direction for test plans and test cases.
- Participate in the testing and release process with business units for new and improved applications.
About You
Background / Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in technology or another business/financial - related area and appropriate business knowledge.
- B A professional certification is recommended - CCBA or equivalent.
- Design thinking, ability to manage multiple strong stakeholder expectations, analytical and illustrative skills, and communicate in a clear non-ambiguous manner.
- Strong understanding of technology trends and their application in the industry.
- Strategic mindset with the ability to translate business goals into actionable plans.
- Ability to work in fast paced, complex business & IT environments.
- Experience of working in both agile & waterfall methodologies.
- Well-rounded individual possessing a high degree of initiative.
- Proactive person willing to accept responsibility with no or very little handholding.
Previous Work Experience
- Minimum two years experience gathering, reviewing and analyzing business requirements preferably with in the Financial Sector required
- Experience with the following applications/tools desirable: JIRA, Confluence, Oracle EB S SSRS, SharePoint , Business Objects, SQL Reporting Services and ERP Solutions.
- Working knowledge of MS products e.g. pivot table services and data import/presentation will be a plus
- Experience with project management products and processes, requirements management tools and processes, etc.
- Able to set priorities, to be flexible with a high degree of accuracy.
- Able to work in a team and also autonomously .
- Experience in coaching and mentoring Junior BAs.
