Job Summary
The Bookkeeper is responsible for supporting the company's day-to-day accounting operations and ensuring financial transactions are recorded accurately and timely. The role assists in maintaining accounting records, preparing reconciliations, supporting month-end closing activities, payroll processing, tax compliance requirements, and management reporting. The position works closely with internal stakeholders to ensure accurate financial information, compliance with company policies, and efficient accounting processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform day-to-day accounting activities and ensure transactions are accurately recorded in the accounting system.
- Prepare and maintain accounting schedules, reconciliations, and supporting documentation.
- Record journal entries and assist in maintaining accurate general ledger balances.
- Ensure accounting records are complete, organized, and properly filed.
- Assist in month-end and year-end closing activities.
- Prepare account reconciliations and investigate discrepancies.
- Support the preparation of adjusting entries and closing schedules.
- Ensure timely completion of assigned closing tasks and reporting requirements.
- Prepare bank reconciliations and monitor outstanding items.
- Verify that bank transactions are properly recorded in the accounting records.
- Assist in monitoring cash balances and supporting payment processing activities.
- Maintain accurate records of cash receipts and disbursements.
- Assist in payroll processing and recording payroll-related transactions.
- Support the preparation of government remittances and statutory reports.
- Assist in the preparation of tax returns, schedules, and compliance documentation.
- Coordinate required documents and schedules for government filings and audits.
- Prepare accounting schedules and reports to support management reporting requirements.
- Assist in the preparation of monthly financial reports and account analyses.
- Monitor and report significant account variances or unusual transactions.
- Provide financial data and schedules as requested by management.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, accounting procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain organized records to support internal and external audit activities.
- Assist in identifying opportunities to improve accounting processes and controls.
- Support implementation of process improvements that enhance efficiency and accuracy.
Professional Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Accountancy, Accounting Technology, Finance, or a related field.
- CPA license is an advantage but not required.
- Minimum of 3 years of accounting or bookkeeping experience.
- Experience in general accounting, reconciliations, payroll support, tax compliance, or financial reporting is preferred.
- Experience using accounting software or ERP systems is an advantage.
- Strong understanding of basic accounting principles and financial reporting processes.
- Familiarity with Philippine tax regulations and statutory compliance requirements.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Able to handle confidential financial information with professionalism and integrity.
