Role Objective
This position will be responsible for maintaining financial records in Xero, preparing month-end reports, and ensuring timely compliance reporting to Australian regulators and revenue offices. The role is hands-on and suited to someone experienced in bookkeeping/accounting who wants stable long-term employment with an Australian company.
Job Responsibilities
- Maintain and update Xero for accurate tracking of balance sheet, profit and loss, and cash flow statement (BS, P&L, CFS).
- Prepare quarterly financial statements using Xero (BS, P&L, CFS).
- Perform daily bookkeeping: bank reconciliations, ledger entries, accounts payable/receivable.
- Manage payroll processing and superannuation contributions.
- Guide on POCT (Point of Consumption Tax) and wagering tax compliance.
- Handle NTRC (Northern Territory Racing Commission) reporting obligations.
- Prepare and assist with regulatory and tax submissions to Australian state and federal offices.
- Ensure all compliance and lodgment deadlines are met and well-documented.
- Support the preparation of company tax returns and assist with external audits.
- Assist in cashflow forecasting and group consolidation.
- Provide ad-hoc support to finance and compliance managers as needed.
Job Qualifications
- Accounting / bookkeeping experience (3+ years preferred).
- Proficiency in Xero (required).
- Strong working knowledge of Excel and financial reporting.
- Familiarity with tax and compliance reporting (experience with Australian systems is highly regarded but not required — training will be provided).
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong English communication skills, both written and spoken.
- Ability to work independently and meet strict deadlines.
