About AES

AES is a growing, forward-thinking waste business with a strong focus on operational excellence and financial discipline. They are now seeking a committed accounting professional — either an experienced Bookkeeper or a Newly Qualified / Part-Qualified CPA — to join our team and support the day-to-day financial operations of the company.

Role Overview

The successful candidate will be responsible for the daily accounting and financial administration of the business. You will manage core bookkeeping functions, maintain accurate financial records, and support month-end processes. As the company grows, there is significant opportunity to take on more responsibility and progress into a senior finance role.

Key Responsibilities

· Manage creditors and debtors ledgers

· Perform bank reconciliations and maintain accurate cash records

· Process invoices, payments, and receipts

· Assist with month-end close and financial reporting

· Maintain organised financial documentation and support audit preparation

· Liaise with internal teams and external partners as required

· Identify opportunities to improve processes and strengthen financial controls

Candidate

Requirements

Option 1: Bookkeeper

· Minimum 5 years experience in bookkeeping or similar accounting role

· Strong understanding of day-to-day accounting operations

· High accuracy, strong organisational skills, and ability to work independently

Option 2: Newly Qualified or Part-Qualified CPA

· 3–4 years experience in an accounting or finance role

· Progressing toward CPA qualification or recently qualified

· Strong analytical mindset and willingness to take on broader finance responsibilities

General Requirements (Both Profiles)

· Strong attention to detail and ownership of tasks

· Ability to work in a fast-paced environment

· Proficiency with accounting software and Excel

· Excellent communication skills

· Career-minded, ambitious, and eager to grow within the business

· Ability to think ahead, solve problems, and add value beyond basic tasks

Amenable to work onsite and midshift

Further information:

  • AES is an SME, they employ approximately 200 people and have approx. 300,000 employees, so this is a fast paced environment and we require a candidate who is used to working in a similar organisation.
