We are seeking a confident, proactive Intermediate Bookkeeper to take ownership of day-to-day bookkeeping, end-to-end payroll, and activity statement drafting for a portfolio of Australian small business clients. - Portfolio Bookkeeping & Reconciliations: Perform daily bank, accounts receivable, and accounts payable reconciliations, trace transaction discrepancies, and maintain accurate general ledger records across assigned client accounts.
- BAS/IAS & Management Reporting: Compile draft Business Activity Statements (BAS) and Instalment Activity Statements (IAS) for review, apply precise GST coding rules, and produce accurate, client-ready monthly financial management reports.
- Direct Stakeholder Communication: Maintain proactive written and verbal communication with local team members and Australian client representatives-drafting email updates, confirming query resolutions, and clarifying missing file documentation.
What You Bring
- The Experience:At least 2 to 3 years of relevant experience in Australian bookkeeping and payroll processing within a public practice firm or dedicated professional outsourcing environment.
- Software Mastery: Proficiency across cloud accounting platforms such as Xero, MYOB, or QuickBooks Online, along with payroll modules and add-on ecosystems.
- Technical Knowledge: Solid understanding of Australian GST legislation, BAS/IAS reporting rules, PAYG withholding, STP reporting obligations, and month-end reconciliation mechanics.
- Core Competencies: Proactive communication style, strong multitasking ability to manage concurrent client files, exceptional attention to detail, and superior written and verbal English skills.
