The Bookkeeper - Finance Reconciliation is responsible for maintaining the accuracy, integrity, and compliance of financial records across a group of privately owned entities, including disability services, technology, and investment businesses. This role ensures disciplined reconciliation practices, strong audit trails, and reliable financial data to support confident decision making and regulatory compliance across the group.
This is a contractor role paid at an hourly rate. The timing of hours worked can be flexible, and do not need to be in Australian time.
Requirements
What you'll do:
- Perform regular reconciliation of all general ledger accounts across multiple entities.
- Investigate and resolve discrepancies promptly, maintaining clear audit trails and supporting documentation.
- Reconcile company credit card transactions and ensure accurate expense coding across entities.
- Confirm valid tax invoices and receipts are obtained, stored correctly, and compliant with Australian requirements.
- Follow up on missing documentation with internal stakeholders in a professional and timely manner.
- Ensure correct GST treatment is applied and GST is only claimed where valid documentation exists.
- Maintain clean, accurate records ready for BAS preparation and external accountant review.
- Assist with month end close processes and reporting preparation.
- Maintain organised digital filing systems for invoices, receipts, and financial records.
- Collaborate with internal finance leaders and external accountants as required.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of finance processes, controls, and documentation standards.
- Support timely month end readiness and reduction of unreconciled or unsupported transactions.
What you'll bring:
- Proven experience in bookkeeping or finance administration.
- Strong reconciliation capability and exceptional attention to detail.
- Solid understanding of GST and Australian bookkeeping and record keeping requirements.
- Experience using accounting platforms such as Xero and Quickbooks, or similar systems.
- Excellent organisation skills and disciplined documentation practices.
- Ability to manage multiple entities and competing priorities simultaneously.
- Reliable internet connection and ability to work to Australian business timelines.
- Experience supporting multi entity or group structures (highly regarded).
- Exposure to disability services, technology, or professional services industries (highly regarded).
- Progress toward or completion of an accounting or bookkeeping qualification (highly regarded)
