About the Role

You will build and operate backend services that power our strategic backoffice Customer Admin platform used by our Customer Service and Compliance teams. This role focuses on robust backend engineering, event-driven workflows, integrations, and production reliability in an operationally critical environment.

What You'll Do

• Design, build, and maintain Java / Spring Boot backend services supporting Customer Admin capabilities.
• Develop and maintain REST APIs consumed by Customer Admin frontends and supporting services.
• Use Kafka and event-driven patterns where appropriate.
• Integrate with upstream/internal platforms using clear contracts, strong error handling, and observability.
• Build and use local harnesses and mocked services/data to unblock development and testing when upstream dependencies are unavailable; rebuild and run harnesses locally as part of normal workflow.
• Troubleshoot production issues, improve performance and reliability, and support stable release processes.
• Maintain clear technical documentation for services, APIs, and local run/debug workflows.

What You Bring

• 35+ years of backend engineering experience (Java / Spring Boot or equivalent).
• Strong experience designing and integrating API-driven services.
• Experience with Kafka or event-based architectures.
• Solid SQL skills and confidence troubleshooting data issues.
• Strong experience using Docker, including: running containerised services, rebuilding services and harnesses, debugging service-to-service interactions.
• Working with Docker alternatives such as Colima or Rancher.
• Production mindset: monitoring, incident response, performance tuning, documentation.

Nice to Have

• Experience connecting services to Bigdata storage solutions like Databricks via JDBC or similar DB/JDBC integrations.
• Familiarity consuming Databricks or other Bigdata-derived datasets.
• Experience working in regulated domains (iGaming, fintech, compliance).
