Back-End Software Developer - Onsite/BGC (dayshift)

A SNAPSHOT OF YOUR ROLE

Responsibilities of the Back-end Developer will include but are not limited to:

Software Development & Implementation

• Develop high-quality, maintainable back-end services, APIs, and microservices using our technology stack
• Implement server-side logic for complex business requirements across the e.things platform
• Build and maintain RESTful APIs and ensure proper integration with front-end applications, devices and external systems
• Develop data processing pipelines and integration services for connected vehicle data ingestion and transformation
• Write clean, efficient, and well-documented code following established coding standards and best practices

Platform integration & Data Management

• Work with databases including MongoDB and Redis to design efficient data storage and retrieval mechanisms
• Implement caching strategies and optimize database queries for performance and scalability
• Integrate with message queuing systems (RabbitMQ, Kafka) for asynchronous processing and event-driven architectures
• Develop and maintain data synchronization processes and ETL workflows
• Ensure proper error handling, logging, and monitoring across all developed services

Quality Assurance & Security

• Write comprehensive unit tests and integration tests to ensure code reliability and maintainability
• Participate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback to team members
• Debug and resolve technical issues in development, staging, and production environments
• Implement proper logging and monitoring practices to support system observability
• Follow security best practices including authentication, authorization, and data protection

Collaboration & Team Participation

• Work closely with Lead Software Developers and Software Architects to implement technical designs
• Collaborate with Business Analysts and Product Management to understand and clarify requirements
• Participate in agile ceremonies including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives
• Contribute to technical discussions and provide input on implementation approaches
• Support knowledge sharing initiatives and documentation efforts within the team

A BIT ABOUT YOU

Experience

• 3-5 years of experience in back-end software development, preferably in cloud-native or SaaS environments
• Strong background in server-side development, API design, and database integration
• Experience with microservices architectures and distributed systems
• Hands-on experience with connected vehicle technologies, IoT platforms, automotive telematics, or enterprise SaaS solutions is desirable
• Experience with agile development methodologies and version control systems
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively in collaborative development teams

Technical Skills & Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or comparable experience
• Strong proficiency in our core back-end technology stack (see Required Technology Skills section)
• Solid understanding of software design patterns, clean code principles, and API best practices
• Experience with automated testing frameworks and test-driven development approaches
• Strong understanding of database design, optimization, and data modeling concepts
• Knowledge of security best practices, authentication/authorization patterns, and compliance requirements
• Experience with debugging, logging, and monitoring in production environments
