Job Description
Be part of our client's team as an AU Tax Accountant, supporting a diverse portfolio of Australian businesses and individuals. Leveraging solid hands-on experience in Australian tax compliance and reporting, you will prepare BAS, FBT returns, tax computations, and financial statements using platforms such as Xero Accounting and Xero Tax. Working closely with Senior Accountants, Managers, and Directors, your work contributes directly to informed decision-making, regulatory compliance, and long-term client success.

The Qualifications We Seek
- Minimum of 3 years of solid Australian tax accounting experience within a Chartered Accounting practice (required)
- Proven hands-on experience preparing and lodging Australian individual, company, trust, partnership, and sole trader tax returns
- Strong working knowledge of Australian tax legislation and compliance requirements
- Demonstrated experience preparing BAS and supporting financial reporting obligations
- Familiarity with Xero Accounting (Blue) and Xero Tax (Green)
- Experience performing day-to-day bookkeeping and maintaining accurate financial records
- Strong proficiency in MS Excel and MS Word
- High attention to detail with strong analytical and reconciliation skills
- Clear written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to meet deadlines
- Ability to work independently while collaborating within a Chartered Accounting team environment
Your Daily Tasks
- Perform general accounting duties for sole traders, partnerships, trusts, and companies
- Prepare reconciliations, accounts, draft financial statements, and workpapers
- Prepare income tax returns for business entities and individual taxpayers
- Account for GST and prepare monthly and quarterly activity statements
- Apply new tax rules and regulations accurately and effectively
- Respond to queries from stakeholders in a timely and professional manner
- Maintain business administration tasks and produce appropriate correspondence and file notes
- Plan and organize daily workload while meeting budget and productivity targets
