We are seeking a client focused and technically capable
Financial Planning Associate to support an established Australian financial advisory practice. This role sits at the intersection of holistic financial advice and residential mortgage lending support, providing critical assistance to Authorized Financial Advisers.
The successful candidate will play a key role in implementing financial strategies, managing ongoing client servicing, and supporting the mortgage and lending components of client advice. While direct mortgage experience is not mandatory, a strong understanding of lending concepts is highly desirable, with further training provided.
In This Role, You Will
Financial Planning & Advice Support (Primary Focus)
- Gather and analyze client financial information, including:
- Cash flow and budgeting, Net worth, Superannuation, Insurance, Investments
- Use financial planning systems (e.g. Xplan, Worksorted) Model financial strategies, Prepare forecasts and projections
- Produce Records of Advice (ROAs) and supporting documents
- Prepare materials for client meetings, including- Fact Finds and risk profiles, Portfolio and performance reports, Strategy illustrations
- Support the implementation of advice and ongoing client servicing
- Assist with annual reviews, strategy updates, and client follow ups
Mortgage Lending Support & Processing
- Support the property and lending components of client financial strategies
- Explain basic mortgage concepts to clients under Adviser guidance, including:
- Principal & Interest vs Interest only loans, Fixed and variable rates, LVR and LMI, Offset accounts and loan features
- Collect and organize loan documentation, such as:
- Tax returns and Notices of Assessment, PAYG summaries and Payslips, Bank and superannuation statements
- Liaise with external mortgage brokers or credit representatives to ensure:
- Smooth application progress, Timely updates and follow-ups, assist clients in comparing loan rates, fees, and charges
- Support analysis of loan structures and their impact on:
- Service ability, Cash flow, overall financial strategy
- Track loan applications through to settlement and assist with post approval queries
Compliance & Administration
- Ensure work complies with AFS license requirements, Best Interests Duty (BID), FASEA Code of Ethics
- Maintain accurate client records and file notes in the CRM system
- Ensure all correspondence and documentation meets compliance standards
- Support audits, annual compliance reviews, and regulatory requirements
Were Looking For Someone Who Has
- 3+ years of experience within a financial advice practice or wealth management firm
- Mortgage experience is desirable but not required. Additional training will be completed.
- Strong numerical, analytical, and problem-solving skills with impeccable attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to explain complex concepts clearly.
- High proficiency with core advice software (Xplan & Worksorted highly regarded) and the Microsoft Office suite.
