Role Description

The Associate Lawyer will handle litigation, disputes, and adversarial proceedings, including government enforcement actions. The role may also involve a variety of corporate and commercial matters, including drafting and reviewing contracts, transaction documents, and regulatory filings. Day-to-day responsibilities include appearing in hearings, attending meetings with clients and government, coordinating with clients and witnesses, drafting pleadings and motions, conducting legal research, preparing legal opinions and memoranda, supporting due diligence for M&A and investments, and assisting in the structuring of deals and cross-border transactions. The role will also involve coordinating with clients, regulators, and counterparties, attending meetings, and contributing to negotiations under supervision of senior lawyers. Associates may work across practice areas, including PPP and infrastructure projects, banking and finance, securities, energy, and technology-related engagements, as needed. This is a full-time, on-site role based in Makati, requiring consistent office presence and collaboration with colleagues.

Qualifications

  • At least 1 year experience in a law firm with exposure to litigation (criminal, civil, admin) and labor.
  • Strong foundation in corporate and commercial law, including contracts, M&A, banking and finance, and securities regulation.
  • Proficiency in legal research, drafting legal opinions, and preparing transaction documents and regulatory submissions.
  • Ability to analyze complex structures for PPP, infrastructure, cross-border transactions, and investment deals.
  • Interest or experience in technology, ICT, blockchain, fintech, and other emerging regulatory frameworks.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with clear, concise, and structured legal writing.
  • High attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple matters and deadlines.
  • Demonstrated client service mindset, professional integrity, and capacity to work collaboratively in a team setting.
  • Law degree from an accredited institution and admission to the Philippine Bar (or eligibility and intent to take the Bar).
  • Willingness to work on-site in Makati and commit to a full-time schedule.
