Job Description

The Asset Support Engineer's role is to assist the Senior Asset Engineer in real-time performance monitoring and initial fault finding of Hybrid Energy Systems AGl is operating across it's C&I portfolio. The role ensures energy production, asset reliability, and energy security by identifying underperformance and emerging faults via SCADA, analytics, and asset monitoring systems. The position assists with the co-ordination of safe triage, escalation, and communication with technicians, engineers, and external stakeholders.

The Asset Support Engineer had the following key responsibilities:

  • Out of hours monitoring of hybrid energy systems (solar PV, BESS systems, HV distribution).
  • Fault or Event detection, validation, prioritization, and classification using SCADA and monitoring tools.
  • Escalation of critical faults and issues to Senior Asset Engineer and coordinating with site teams and O&M personnel to attend site.

Key accountabilities of this role:

Operational Management

  • Monitor and maintain an overview of system performance outside of normal working hours 4pm 10pm AEST weekdays, 7.30am 4pm on weekends ensuring systems meet customer requirements.
  • Initial fault containment and hypothesis development and application of standard fault responses during degraded operational asset performance.
  • Execution of first-line remote resets, configuration checks
  • Initiation of critical site attendance for fault investigation and rectification.
  • Assessment of production loss, impact on customer operations and, and escalating as required.

Maintenance Management

  • Creation and management of work orders within Procore and NetSuite platforms.
  • Coordination with site teams and maintenance technicians.
  • Incident timelines, operator logs, and ongoing documentation.

Qualifications, key skills and experience required

  • Well-developed, detail orientated organization skills
  • Ability to coordinate and work with integral project team
  • Good interpersonal and written / verbal communication skills

Advantageous:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechatronics, Renewable Energy Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience in utility-scale solar PV, or renewable asset monitoring.
  • Ability to interpret SCADA trends, event logs, one-line diagrams, and fault signatures.
  • Knowledge of SEL protection infrastructure.
  • Experience with CMMS platforms including Procore and NetSuite.

Budget accountability & decision-making authority

The role will support the business in meeting its EBIT targets through efficient design practices that reduce site reworks, provide a detailed level of specification for installation materials and scope.
