Job Description

Key Responsibilities

Asset Recovery Management:

  • Lead and manage the asset recovery team in the identification and recovery of assets secured by collateral for defaulted loans.
  • Develop and implement strategies to maximize the recovery of outstanding loans through asset liquidation or settlement.
  • Coordinate with internal departments, including legal, collections, and finance, to ensure seamless recovery processes.
  • Monitor and assess the progress of asset recovery efforts to ensure timely action and adherence to policies.

Legal And Regulatory Compliance

  • Ensure that all asset recovery and disposal actions are in full compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and company policies.
  • Collaborate with legal advisors and external counsel to ensure the proper handling of foreclosure, repossession, or other legal processes.
  • Ensure that all actions taken during asset recovery and disposal are legally defensible, including documentation and necessary filings.

Asset Disposal And Liquidation

  • Develop and execute plans for asset disposal, whether through auctions, sales, or direct negotiations, to maximize the financial return for the company.
  • Oversee the coordination of asset appraisals and valuations to ensure fair market value is achieved in all disposal transactions.
  • Manage relationships with third-party vendors (auction houses, appraisers, etc.) to facilitate the asset disposal process.
  • Ensure that asset disposal processes are transparent and adhere to ethical standards, maintaining the companys reputation.

Risk Management

  • Identify potential risks related to asset recovery and disposal, and develop strategies to mitigate them.
  • Ensure the protection and safekeeping of assets during the recovery and disposal process, minimizing damage or loss.
  • Monitor market trends and adjust asset disposal strategies to optimize recovery outcomes.

Team Leadership And Development

  • Supervise and mentor a team of asset recovery professionals, ensuring they are equipped with the necessary skills and tools to perform their roles effectively.
  • Provide guidance on complex recovery cases and ensure best practices are followed by the team.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and establish development plans to enhance team capabilities.
  • Foster a high-performance culture focused on efficiency, compliance, and customer satisfaction.

Reporting And Documentation

  • Prepare and present regular reports on the status of asset recovery and disposal activities to senior management.
  • Ensure all recovery actions are properly documented, including reports, legal correspondence, and asset valuations.
  • Maintain accurate records of asset disposition, including proceeds from sales or auctions, and ensure that financial records are updated accordingly.

Collaboration And Stakeholder Management

  • Collaborate with other departments (e.g., finance, legal, collections) to ensure that asset recovery processes align with broader business objectives.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for senior management and external stakeholders regarding asset recovery and disposal activities.
  • Provide strategic input on asset recovery policies and procedures to improve future recovery efforts.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Other duties as assigned to ensure the smooth execution of asset recovery and disposal processes, including assisting with ad hoc tasks or supporting other departments in related activities as needed. Maintain flexibility to adapt to changing needs and priorities of the business.

Key Requirements

  • Educational Requirement: Bachelors degree in Business Administration, Finance, Law, or a related field. A Masters degree or relevant certification (e.g., in Asset Management or Legal Studies) is a plus.
  • Experience: At least 5 years of experience in asset recovery, collections, or a related field, with at least 2 years in a leadership or supervisory role.

Skills

  • Strong understanding of asset recovery processes, liquidation strategies, and legal procedures.
  • Ability to assess asset value and market conditions to maximize recovery.
  • Excellent negotiation skills and the ability to manage complex asset disposal processes.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Analytical skills to assess recovery efforts and suggest improvements.
  • Familiarity with asset management software and financial reporting tools.

Technical Skills

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Experience with asset tracking and recovery software.
  • Knowledge of legal documentation and regulatory requirements related to asset recovery.

Job Competencies

  • High attention to detail with an ability to manage large volumes of assets and transactions.
