THE ROLE

As an Application Support Engineer (IT Support Officer), you will maintain, enhance, and stabilise a Node.js and MySQL-based internal web application purpose-built for a wealth advisory business. You will manage the cloud infrastructure on Google Cloud Platform, own API integrations with enterprise platforms, and keep critical overnight processes running cleanly during Australian business hours. Within six months, the expectation is full autonomous operation — this is not a support desk role, it is a platform ownership role.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

• Maintain, debug, and enhance the proprietary internal web application built on Node.js and MySQL, delivering bug fixes, feature additions, and ongoing platform stability.
• Manage and optimise API integrations with Xplan, SharePoint, and Asana — with active priority work migrating the platform from web scraping to Xplan's native API.
• Perform Google Cloud Platform operations including application deployment, secrets management, and cloud storage management.
• Write and maintain scripts and automation to reduce manual business processes and improve platform efficiency across the board.
• Monitor system health during Australian business hours — including early morning confirmation that overnight jobs have completed correctly — and respond to critical incidents as they arise.
• Implement Asana-based business process workflows as directed by the broader team and support the integration of Asana into daily operations.
• Perform minor WordPress CMS content updates and act as technical backup to the Lead IT Specialist, with the clear expectation of fully independent operation within six months.

WHAT YOU BRING

• Demonstrated, production-level proficiency in Node.js — this is the core language of the platform and is non-negotiable; you must have built or maintained real systems with it, not just completed tutorials.
• Strong MySQL skills including writing complex queries, database management, and troubleshooting data integrity issues — non-negotiable.
• Solid front-end capability in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript for maintaining and enhancing the browser-based internal application.
• Hands-on API integration experience with non-trivial, third-party APIs — financial, enterprise, or productivity platforms preferred; simple REST experience alone is not sufficient.
• Proven ability to own problems end-to-end and progress without daily direction in a small team or high-autonomy environment.
• Clear, confident communication with non-technical stakeholders — financial advisors and business staff will rely on you to translate technical situations into plain language.

WORK ARRANGEMENT

This is a full work-from-home role. You will work from your own home office, supporting Australian business hours.
