What You'll Do
As an Anti-Money Laundering Officer, you will be instrumental in maintaining the highest standards of regulatory compliance within the organisation's operations. Your day-to-day activities will involve monitoring customer transactions for signs of suspicious behaviour using advanced analytical tools and established protocols. You will conduct investigations into flagged activities with precision and prepare detailed reports for submission to regulatory bodies. In addition to transaction monitoring, you will perform rigorous customer due diligence during onboarding processes as well as regular reviews throughout the customer lifecycle. Enhanced due diligence will be required for higher-risk clients or complex scenarios. You will also play a key role in ensuring that all business units adhere strictly to anti-money laundering requirements by providing guidance and support across departments. Your expertise will contribute significantly to developing training materials aimed at raising awareness among employees about evolving compliance obligations. - Review and analyse customer transactions meticulously to identify unusual or suspicious activities that may indicate potential money laundering or terrorist financing risks.
- Conduct thorough investigations based on system-generated alerts, internal referrals, or escalations from other business units to ensure timely detection of financial crime.
- Prepare comprehensive Suspicious Transaction Reports (STRs) and submit them promptly to the relevant authorities as required by local regulations.
- Perform risk-based assessments during both onboarding and periodic reviews of customers, applying appropriate levels of scrutiny according to risk profiles.
- Examine Know Your Customer (KYC) information, documentation, and customer profiles for completeness and compliance with internal policies and external regulations.
- Carry out enhanced due diligence procedures for high-risk customers, politically exposed persons (PEPs), and complex cases requiring additional investigation.
- Ensure full compliance with all applicable anti-money laundering laws, regulatory guidelines, Insurance Commission circulars, and internal company policies at all times.
- Assist in preparing detailed regulatory reports, audit responses, and supporting documentation for compliance reviews or inspections by authorities.
- Stay updated on new developments in AML laws, regulations, industry best practices, and emerging trends affecting the insurance sector.
- Collaborate closely with Sales, Operations, Legal, Audit, Risk teams, and other stakeholders to resolve AML-related issues efficiently and provide expert guidance.

- Bachelor's degree in Law, Business Administration, Finance, Economics or any related field demonstrating foundational knowledge relevant to compliance roles.
- At least two to five years of hands-on experience working in anti-money laundering (AML), know your customer (KYC), compliance or financial crime prevention within banking, insurance or broader financial services sectors.
- Comprehensive understanding of local AMLA legislation, counter-terrorist financing (CTF) regulations, AMLC rules as well as Insurance Commission guidelines governing the industry.
- Proven experience preparing Suspicious Transaction Reports (STRs), conducting transaction monitoring activities and executing both customer due diligence (CDD) and enhanced due diligence (EDD) processes effectively.
- Exceptional analytical skills paired with meticulous attention to detail when reviewing large volumes of data or investigating complex cases involving potential financial crime.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities enabling clear report writing as well as effective interaction with internal teams or external regulators.
- Professional certifications such as CAMS (Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist), CFE (Certified Fraud Examiner), or equivalent AML qualifications are considered advantageous but not mandatory.
