Mission of Function:
The position is responsible for the technical configuration, performancemonitoring, integration, and operational support of the Advanced MeteringInfrastructure (AMI) system, ensuring the integrity, reliability, and security of smartmeter data collection and communication.
Job Responsibilities:
1.AMI Architecture & System Operations
- Maintains and monitors the AMI system's read performance, ensuring theintegrity, reliability, and accuracy of meter data for billing and operationaluse.
- Troubleshoots and resolves complex AMI system issues, including smartmeters, communication networks, and Head-End System (HES) faults.
2.Metering, Testing & Configuration
- Manages and updates the network of smart meter endpoints, includingcoordinating mass firmware updates and ensuring proper configurationfor different metering services.
- Participates in the qualification and vetting of new meter hardware andcommunication devices through testing and system verification.
3.Communication Networks & Protocols
- Proactively monitors the AMI communication network (NAN/WAN) andcoordinates with telecommunication providers to ensure reliability andsecurity.
- Collaborates with IT/OT and security teams to implement securityprotocols (e.g., encryption, access control) to protect the AMIcommunication network and data.
4.Data Analysis, Reporting & Grid Quality
- Analyzes AMI data and reports to identify and address issues such asmeter tampering, power quality problems, and non-technical losses (theftdetection).
- Performs root cause analysis and develops comprehensive technicalreports on system outages and communication failures.
5.Integration & Vendor Management
- Supports the integration of the Head-End System (HES) with the MeterData Management System (MDMS) and other utility systems (e.g., Billing,GIS).
- Assists in the development of business requirements and technicalspecifications for AMI system upgrades and enhancements, coordinatingwith external vendors.
6.Documentation & Compliance
- Creates, maintains, and documents procedures, technical specifications,and training materials related to AMI operations and maintenance.
- Ensures compliance with regulatory standards for metering such as ERCResolution No. 20, Series of 2025.
Job Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering
- Registered Electric Engineer
