Overview
We are hiring a mid-to-senior level AI Engineer to design and build custom internal tools, automation systems, and AI-powered workflows that improve operational efficiency across the organization.
This is a hands-on engineering role focused on developing production-grade software solutions including internal applications, backend services, integrated systems, and AI pipelines. You will translate ambiguous operational challenges into structured, scalable systems that replace manual processes with reliable automation.
We are not looking for a no-code automation operator. We are looking for someone who can architect, code, ship, and maintain real systems. As a technical generalist, you will own initiatives end-to-end from problem definition and system design through implementation, deployment, and ongoing optimization.
We actively encourage the use of AI tools and autonomous agents to augment development workflows. Leveraging AI for coding, refactoring, documentation, testing, and workflow design is supported and expected, provided outputs meet production-quality standards.
You will also design AI agents and structured workflows that empower non-technical team members to safely build and operate their own automations within defined guardrails.
Job Scope
- Design and build custom internal applications, automation systems, and AI-enabled workflows
- Architect backend services and integrations connecting internal and third-party systems
- Develop AI pipelines for document processing, classification, and operational decision support
- Design reusable AI agents and workflow frameworks for internal teams
- Establish guardrails, validation layers, and human-in-the-loop controls
- Ensure system reliability through logging, monitoring, and thoughtful error handling
- Maintain clean data models and system architecture
- Continuously improve systems based on real-world usage and evolving business needs
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Physics, Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or related field (or equivalent hands-on experience building production systems)
- Experience building and deploying backend systems, internal tools, or automation workflows
- Proven track record of shipping custom-built solutions that replaced or significantly improved manual processes
- Strong proficiency in Python, with experience building backend services (e.g., FastAPI, Django, Node.js, Express, or similar)
- Experience working with APIs (REST, webhooks, OAuth, JSON) and integrating third-party services into custom systems
- Working knowledge of relational databases (e.g., Postgres) and SQL for querying and validation
- Experience deploying and maintaining applications in cloud environments (AWS, GCP, or similar)
- Experience integrating LLM APIs (OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini, or similar) into production workflows
- Experience building structured AI or automation pipelines with validation layers and guardrails
- Strong problem-solving ability with experience translating ambiguous business needs into structured, maintainable systems
- Experience collaborating with non-technical stakeholders and communicating technical decisions clearly
- High ownership mindset with the ability to operate independently in fast-moving environments
- Experience with finance or ERP systems (QuickBooks, Xero, NetSuite) is a plus, not required
