Job Description

Job Title: Advanced Specialist, Financial Reporting, Planning and Analysis Corporate Finance



Description: As an Advanced Specialist, Financial Reporting, Planning and Analysis (FP&A), you will play a critical role in enabling strong business decisionmaking within Pearson's Virtual Learning business. Sitting within Pearson Finance Services, this role partners closely with business leaders to deliver highquality financial insight, analysis, and planning support that drives performance and sustainable growth.



You'll wake up excited to turn complex financial data into clear, actionable insights. In your first six months, your impact will be visible through improved P&L transparency, stronger forecasting accuracy, and trusted partnerships with nonfinance stakeholders. What makes this role different is the breadth of exposurecombining financial analysis, revenue management, and strategic planning in a global, matrixed organisation.



The Role



This role exists to provide robust financial reporting, planning, and analysis support to the Virtual Learning business. You'll contribute across the full FP&A cycle, partnering with stakeholders to support monthend close, budgeting and forecasting, revenue management, and strategic decisionmaking.



What You'll Own



Success in this role is defined by insight, ownership, and impact:



  • Financial reporting & analysis : Deliver accurate and insightful P&L reporting and variance analysis, supporting monthend close and adhoc business requests.


  • Decision support : Provide highquality analysis to support business decisions, including assessment of value drivers, sensitivities, risks, and financial implications.


  • Revenue management : Produce and analyse revenue metrics, dashboards, and forecasts using data and visualisation tools; support accurate revenue recognition and project accounting.


  • Planning, budgeting & forecasting : Support target setting, budgeting, and forecasting cycles by challenging assumptions, consolidating inputs, and identifying opportunities for improvement.


  • Project & contract oversight : Act as a finance partner for revenuerelated projects, ensuring project setups, fee schedules, and accounting treatments are accurate and compliant.


  • Strategic & resource planning : Apply a strategic lens to identify opportunities to improve cost efficiency, performance, and sustainability, while tracking progress against leadership goals.


  • Crossfunctional collaboration : Work closely with finance and nonfinance stakeholders to ensure financial information is clearly understood and effectively used.


You'll operate with a strong sense of accountability, balancing detail with materiality and prioritisation.



About You



You bring strong FP&A expertise, commercial acumen, and the ability to influence across the business.



  • You bring 5+ years of experience in Financial Planning & Analysis or a closely related finance role.


  • You have strong accounting knowledge, ideally with experience in project accounting and revenuerelated activities.


  • You're confident analysing complex data, building models, and presenting insights to both finance and nonfinance audiences.


  • You communicate clearly and persuasively, adapting your style to different stakeholders.


  • You demonstrate strong prioritisation skills and judgment, particularly in fastmoving or ambiguous environments.


  • You're comfortable working independently while collaborating across a global, matrixed organisation.


  • You have experience with finance systems (Oracle preferred) and data or visualisation tools (e.g. Alteryx, Tableau).


  • You're an advanced Excel user and bring a high standard of accuracy and quality to your work.


  • A professional accounting qualification is preferred, but equivalent experience will be considered.
