Assurance and Financial Reporting Associate

Location: Manila
Shift: 9:00PM - 6:00AM (Monday-Friday) PHT
Work Arrangement: Onsite

ABOUT THE ROLE:

The Assurance and Financial Reporting Associate supports audit engagements by performing audit procedures in moderately complex areas, reviewing prior-year workpapers and interim financial statements, and identifying potential misstatements. The role involves preparing well-documented working papers in accordance with AICPA audit standards, clearing review notes efficiently, and drafting management letter comments supported by factual analysis and client discussions.

This position requires a solid understanding of U.S. GAAP, financial statement preparation, and client accounting systems, including internal controls and financial information systems. The Associate works closely with engagement teams and clients, maintains strong organization and time-tracking practices, and leverages standard business and audit technologies such as MS Excel, Adobe Acrobat, and virtual collaboration tools. Familiarity with audit platforms like CCH ProSystem fx Engagement, Knowledge Coach, and Suralink is preferred.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Participates in audit process
  • Reviews prior year work papers and most recent interim financial statements prior to the beginning of the engagement
  • Performs audit procedures for moderately complex areas
  • Identifies misstatements
  • Effectively communicates with engagement teams
  • Clears review notes in a timely and effective manner
  • Identifies and drafts relevant management letter comments, supported by factual information corroborated with appropriate client personnel
  • Maintains knowledge of client policies, procedures, and business conditions
    • Understands client's basic accounting practices and transactions, and their inter-relationships with financial information systems
    • Demonstrates working knowledge of client's accounting systems, including computer control structure and environment, and can assess the effectiveness of controls within the context of assigned tasks
    • Has ability to gain a basic understanding of the client's business and critical needs
  • Skills, Knowledge, Abilities, and Technology
    • Basic understanding of US GAAP financial accounting including the ability to prepare financial statements
    • Ability to prepare working papers with appropriate supporting documentation in accordance with AICPA audit standards
    • Proficient in the use of standard business software

      • MS Office, with emphasis on Excel, including the ability to create pivot tables and exhibits in support of analyses, using formulas and appropriate formats
      • Adobe Acrobat, including page and bookmark management, commenting/markup tools, etc.
      • Zoom or MS Teams video meeting platforms
      • Diligent time tracking and reporting
    • Demonstrates organization skills
    • Able to use basic functions of CCH ProSystem fx Engagement, Knowledge Coach, and Suralink is preferred
    • Effectively collaborate with clients and perform client inquiries including soliciting and delivering information in a professional manner

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • 2-6 years of relevant US public accounting or industry experience
    • CPA or CPA candidate with intention to complete the CPA exam
    • Bachelor's or Master's degree in accounting and completion of 150 CPA credits (or comparable equivalent)
