Actuarial Analyst Canada ASSC

Manulife Business Process Services (MBPS) is currently searching for a talented and driven individual role who will be accountable for performing various actuarial services for our valuation team supporting Manulife Canada valuation team, the Actuarial Shared Service Center (ASSC).

The incumbent will be a part of the IFRS Valuation team by driving valuation, modelling and reporting activities for the life insurance products within Manulife Canada.

This role will provide a great opportunity to apply core actuarial concepts, to understand life insurance products and to work collaboratively with individuals within the team and other functions of the company.

Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will have ownership of the following accountabilities:
  • Be involved in the modelling, implementation and running of IFRS17 models in Excel, Python and Moody's Analytics Axis software for Cost of Guarantee modelling of Canadian Segment's Par line of business. The deliverables include the quarterly reporting of cost of guarantee, as well as key sensitivities including Economic Capital and Stress Testing
  • Explain key drivers and provide recommendations of the cost of guarantee for Canadian segment's Par line of business
  • Become a person of contact when engaging with various business units to provide technical support for any questions raised during the engagement
  • Maintain and run valuation models of various lines of business for quarterly reserve calculation and financial reporting, primarily using Moody's Analytics AXIS software
  • Analyze reserve, capital and risk calculations and provide commentary on results to our contacts in Canada.
  • Be involved with change management of our actuarial models, including assumption updates, model refinements, and new product implementation
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, or Statistics
  • At least 3 years of actuarial work experience with Insurance companies and/or Financial services
  • Driven to attain designation in any recognized actuarial organization (SOA, ASP)
  • Past experience in actuarial modelling (preferably AXIS) and valuation in the life insurance industry would be an asset; understanding of regulations and familiarity in the manner of operations life insurance companies is a plus.
  • Ability to clearly communicate ideas, concepts and results to both technical and non-technical audiences whether written and oral
  • Demonstrated ability meet tough deadlines and clearly set own priorities
  • Able to work in an evolving and dynamic environment and resilient to pressure;
  • Self-motivated with strong interpersonal skills and has demonstrated team collaboration
