Accounts Payable Clerk - Claims & Reserve Processing
Job Summary:
The Accounts Payable Clerk - Claims & Reserve Processing is responsible for supporting financial and administrative activities related to insurance claims and reserve adjustments. This role ensures accurate data entry, documentation, and processing of claim-related transactions while maintaining compliance with internal controls and company policies. The position is primarily clerical, requiring strong attention to detail and consistency.
Key Responsibilities:
- Process and validate invoices and payment requests related to claims
- Perform clerical updates to claim reserves based on instructions from adjusters or authorized personnel
- Enter and maintain accurate data in claims and financial systems
- Review supporting documentation for completeness and accuracy before processing
- Assist in reconciling claim payments and reserve balances
- Monitor and track reserve changes to ensure proper documentation and approval
- Coordinate with claims adjusters, finance teams, and other stakeholders for clarifications
- Maintain organized digital and/or physical records of claim transactions
- Support audit requirements by retrieving documents and ensuring proper filing
- Flag discrepancies or errors in claims or reserve entries for review
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent (Associate's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field is a plus)
- 1-2 years of clerical, accounts payable, or insurance-related experience preferred
- Basic understanding of accounts payable processes
- Familiarity with claims processing or insurance terminology is an advantage
- Proficient in MS Excel and data entry systems
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Good organizational and time management skills
- Ability to follow structured procedures and instructions
