Job Description

The Accounting Officer is responsible for ensuring the companys compliance with tax laws and regulatory requirements issued by the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR), local government units (LGUs), and other regulatory bodies. The role supports financial reporting processes by reconciling tax-related accounts, preparing statutory tax filings, and coordinating with internal teams, auditors, and regulatory agencies.

This position also assists in financial statement audits and ensures accuracy between tax filings and the companys general ledger balances.

Key Responsibilities:

Tax Compliance and Regulatory Reporting

  • Prepare and file monthly, quarterly, and annual tax returns in compliance with BIR regulations, including:
  • Withholding Taxes (BIR Forms 1600, 1601-C, 1601-E, 1601-F)
  • Value Added Tax (VAT) and Percentage Taxes (BIR Forms 2550M and 2550Q)
  • Quarterly Income Tax Returns (BIR Form 1702Q)
  • Other tax-related filings such as Capital Gains Tax, Documentary Stamp Tax, and annual registration fees when applicable.
  • Prepare and submit required tax attachments and reports, including:
  • Summary of Alphalist of Withholding Taxes (SAWT)
  • Quarterly Alphalist of Payees (QAP)
  • Summary List of Sales, Purchases, and Importations (SLSPI)
  • Semestral List of Regular Suppliers (SRS)
  • Tenant profiles and other regulatory documentation as required by tax regulations.
  • Ensure timely and accurate submission of statutory reports and regulatory filings.

Financial Reporting and Month-End Close

  • Coordinate with the General Ledger team on posting tax-related accruals and adjustments.
  • Perform reconciliation of tax accounts including:
  • Input and Output VAT
  • Expanded Withholding Tax (EWT)
  • Income tax reconciling items
  • Ensure tax returns are aligned with the corresponding general ledger balances and resolve discrepancies with relevant departments.
  • Assist in preparing financial statements and note disclosures related to taxation.

Audit and Regulatory Coordination

  • Liaise with regulatory agencies (e.g., BIR, LGUs) regarding tax compliance, audits, and regulatory requirements.
  • Support internal, external, and regulatory audits by providing schedules, reconciliations, and supporting documentation.
  • Coordinate responses and documentation during tax audits.

Annual and Statutory Compliance

  • Prepare and file annual BIR reports and statutory requirements, including:
  • Annual Information Returns (BIR Forms 1604E and 1604CF)
  • Annual Alphalist of Payees
  • Annual Income Tax Returns (ITR)
  • Annual Audited Financial Statements (AFS)
  • Related Party Transaction reporting (BIR Form 1709)
  • Monitor and coordinate the renewal of business permits, licenses, and real estate tax requirements.

Additional Responsibilities:


  • Maintain organized documentation of regulatory submissions and correspondence.
  • Assist in process improvements identified during audits or internal reviews.
  • Prepare ad hoc reports and analyses requested by management.
  • Ensure proper compliance with Tax Treaty Relief Application (TTRA) requirements when applicable.

Qualifications:


Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Accountancy or related field.

Experience:


  • At least 3 years of experience in accounting with tax compliance responsibilities.
  • Experience in general ledger accounting and preparation of financial statements.
  • Exposure to real estate accounting or taxation is an advantage.

Certifications:


  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) preferred.

Technical Skills:


  • Strong knowledge of Philippine tax regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Familiarity with Philippine Accounting Standards (PAS) and Philippine Financial Reporting Standards (PFRS).
  • Ability to reconcile tax accounting and financial accounting records.
  • Experience using ERP systems such as SAP is an advantage.
