Overview:
The Accounting Officer will support the financial operations of Newbloc Construction by maintaining accurate accounting records, monitoring financial transactions, and ensuring compliance with tax and regulatory requirements.
This role will be responsible for assisting in financial reporting, managing payables and receivables, and supporting project-based accounting to ensure efficient financial management across construction projects.
Key Responsibilities:
Accounting Operations
- Record and maintain accurate financial transactions in the accounting system.
- Monitor accounts payable and accounts receivable, ensuring timely processing of payments and collections.
- Prepare journal entries, reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
Financial Reporting
- Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
- Reconcile bank statements, supplier accounts, and project-related expenses.
- Maintain organized financial records and documentation.
Tax & Regulatory Compliance
- Prepare and assist in filing BIR tax returns (VAT, Withholding Taxes, etc.).
- Ensure compliance with government reporting requirements including BIR, SSS, PhilHealth, and Pag-IBIG.
- Assist during tax audits and external audits.
Project & Cost Monitoring
- Track and monitor project expenses and cost allocations.
- Coordinate with project managers to ensure proper documentation of project-related financial transactions.
- Assist in monitoring project budgets and cost control.
Administrative & Financial Support
- Coordinate with suppliers and internal departments regarding billing, payments, and documentation.
- Support the Finance Head or Accounting Manager in financial analysis and reporting.
- Ensure proper filing and documentation of financial records.
Qualifications:
- A Bachelor's degree holder in Accountancy, Accounting Technology, or any related field.
- Preferably CPA or with CPA units, but not required.
- With at least 35 years of accounting experience, preferably in construction, engineering, or project-based industries.
- Knowledgeable in Philippine tax laws, BIR compliance, and government statutory filings.
- Experience handling accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and accounting software.
- Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational and analytical skills.
- Able to work independently and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Good communication skills and able to coordinate with project managers, suppliers, and internal departments.
