Position Summary
The Accounting Manager is responsible for establishing, managing, and continuously improving the company's accounting and financial management systems. This role will lead the implementation and optimization of the company's QuickBooks accounting platform, develop and enforce internal controls, create and maintain accounting Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and serve as the primary finance partner to all business units. The Accounting Manager ensures financial accuracy, compliance, operational efficiency, and provides management with timely financial information to support strategic decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
1. Accounting System Implementation and Management
- Lead the implementation, configuration, and optimization of the company's QuickBooks accounting system.
- Develop and maintain the chart of accounts, customer and vendor records, classes, locations, and reporting structure.
- Establish accounting workflows that support operational efficiency and financial reporting.
- Ensure proper integration between QuickBooks and other business systems where applicable.
- Maintain data integrity, user access controls, and accounting system documentation.
2. Financial Operations
- Oversee the company's general accounting functions, including:
- General Ledger
- Accounts Payable
- Accounts Receivable
- Bank and credit card reconciliations
- Fixed Assets
- Payroll accounting (where applicable)
- Supervise month-end and year-end closing processes.
- Prepare accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Monitor cash flow and working capital requirements.
- Ensure timely and accurate recording of all financial transactions.
3. Internal Controls and Risk Management
- Design, implement, and continuously improve the company's internal control framework.
- Establish segregation of duties and approval authorities across financial processes.
- Develop controls to safeguard company assets and minimize financial risk.
- Monitor compliance with internal policies and recommend corrective actions where necessary.
- Support internal and external audit activities.
4. Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
- Develop, document, implement, and maintain accounting and finance SOPs.
- Standardize financial processes across all business units.
- Ensure SOPs remain current with changes in operations, accounting standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Train employees on accounting procedures and internal controls.
- Promote process consistency and continuous improvement throughout the organization.
5. Business Unit Financial Partnership
- Serve as the primary finance business partner to all company business units.
- Assist department managers with budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning.
- Analyze financial performance by business unit and provide actionable recommendations.
- Evaluate profitability, cost structures, and operational efficiency.
- Support business leaders with financial analysis for strategic initiatives and investment decisions.
- Participate in cross-functional planning and business review meetings.
6. Budgeting and Financial Planning
- Coordinate the annual budgeting process across all departments.
- Prepare financial forecasts and variance analyses.
- Monitor departmental spending against approved budgets.
- Recommend cost-saving initiatives and resource optimization opportunities.
7. Compliance and Reporting
- Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards, tax regulations, and statutory reporting requirements.
- Coordinate with external auditors, tax consultants, and regulatory agencies.
- Prepare schedules and supporting documentation for audits and tax filings.
- Maintain accurate accounting records in accordance with company policies and legal requirements.
8. Team Leadership
- Supervise and mentor accounting staff.
- Establish performance standards and professional development plans.
- Foster a culture of accountability, accuracy, and continuous improvement.
- Coordinate workloads to ensure timely completion of financial deliverables.

Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) is a must.
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership responsibilities.
- Extensive experience with QuickBooks implementation and administration.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, internal controls, financial reporting, budgeting, and compliance.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial reporting tools.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, leadership, and communication skills.
