Job Purpose
Oversee the accounting function to ensure accurate financial reporting, strong internal controls, and timely processing of all financial transactions. Lead and supervise the accounting team, including accounts payable, to ensure client satisfaction and high-performing staff development. Bring industry knowledge to inform financial planning, project profitability, cost control, and regulatory/compliance practices.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
- Review financial reports, monitor accounts, and prepare activity reports and financial forecasts.
- Oversee cash flow management and financial instruments; monitor liquidity and project-related financing as applicable.
- Plan and direct the activities of staff in branches, projects, or departments; assign tasks and manage workload.
- Prepare reports as required by law, regulations, or company policies; ensure timely statutory and regulatory filings.
- Ensure compliance with applicable laws and procedures; uphold professional standards and internal controls.
- Produce long-term business plans and assist with strategic financial planning, including project budgeting and capex planning.
- Undertake research into pricing, competitors, and factors affecting performance; support business decisions with analysis.
- Manage budgets, control income, cash flow, expenditure, and carry out business modeling and risk assessments.
- Lead end-to-end A/P processes: invoice receipt, validation, coding, approval routing, payment processing, and record maintenance.
- Maintain vendor master data (terms, tax details, banking information); ensure proper onboarding and due diligence for new vendors.
Other Accounting Responsibilities (as applicable)
- Accounts Receivable support: invoicing, cash applications, and aging analyses as needed.
- Tax Compliance Support: assist with VAT/GST, corporate tax filings, local property taxes, and regulatory reporting; coordinate with external advisors.
- Audit Support: coordinate with internal/external auditors; prepare schedules and documentation.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's/College Degree in Accounting.
- Professional License (Passed Board/Bar/Professional License Exam) preferred but not required.
- At least 6 years of working experience in accounting, with relevant exposure to construction or real estate projects.
- Industry experience in construction and/or real estate strongly preferred.
