Accounting Manager

About the Role:

Makro Philippines (CP Axtra AC Corporation) is looking for an Accounting Manager to oversee our financial operations — accounting, internal controls, tax, and finance compliance. As part of a growing retail startup, this is a hands-on leadership role: you'll establish accounting processes from the ground up, support strategic decision-making, and manage a small but dynamic finance team.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee day-to-day accounting operations and ensure accurate, timely recording of all financial transactions in compliance with Philippine Financial Reporting Standards
• Manage monthly, quarterly, and year-end closing processes, and prepare/review financial statements
• Maintain asset and liability records, including inventory and fixed assets
• Design, implement, and continuously improve financial processes and internal control systems
• Establish policies for cash handling, inventory management, procurement, and expense approvals
• Ensure compliance with Philippine tax regulations, including timely tax filings and statutory reporting
• Coordinate with external auditors and support audit requirements
• Liaise with tax consultants and government agencies as needed

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• CPA required; other finance, accounting, or tax-related certifications are a plus
• At least 10 years of relevant accounting experience, including 3+ years in retail (large-format retail preferred)
• Experience in accounting roles with supervisory responsibilities
• Strong knowledge of accounting standards, tax regulations, and financial processes
• Proficient in accounting systems and MS Excel
• Comfortable building processes and adapting in a fast-moving startup environment
