Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Accountant with strong experience in Xero accounting software to support our Australian client engagements. The ideal candidate will prepare and manage accounting records, assist in tax compliance and reporting, and provide high-quality financial outputs aligned with Australian tax standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, review, and maintain accurate accounting records in Xero for multiple clients.
- Assist with preparation and lodgement of Australian tax returns and compliance documents.
- Process BAS, IAS, GST, and other statutory reporting in accordance with ATO requirements.
- Reconcile accounts including bank reconciliations and general ledger accounts.
- Generate timely financial reports and assist in year-end accounts preparation.
- Provide support on payroll processes and other financial obligations.
- Collaborate with team members and communicate professionally with clients as needed.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of accounting best practices and relevant Australian taxation updates.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- Proficient in Xero accounting software (including Xero Tax and related modules).
- Minimum of 2-3 years experience in accounting or taxation, ideally with exposure to Australian tax and compliance.
- Strong understanding of Australian tax compliance concepts (GST, BAS, tax returns).
- Excellent numerical accuracy and attention to detail.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and accounting reporting tools.
- Clear and professional communication skills in English.
Preferred Attributes
- Experience preparing financial statements and handling tax compliance for companies, trusts, or individuals.
- Prior experience in a public practice or outsourcing environment supporting Australian clients.
- Ability to work independently and manage deadlines in a remote setup.
