What are we looking for
Skills Required
- 23 years practical experience in Australian tax, BAS, bookkeeping and financial statements preparation.
- Familiarity with SMSF administration and relevant software (e.g. BGL), or keen to learn.
- Proficiency in bookkeeping software (ideally Xero), and comfort with daily admin bookkeeping tasks.
- Strong attention to detail, organisational skills, ability to manage multiple clients and deadlines.
- Good communication skills able to liaise with clients and partners, gather necessary information, and explain tax/accounting matters clearly.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a small-firm environment and support senior partners.
- Basic understanding of compliance, lodgement deadlines, and Australian tax/SMSF regulations.
What will you do
Position Summary
- Preparation of individual and business tax returns (income tax) for a variety of clients.
- Preparation and lodgment of Business Activity Statements (BAS) and GST returns.
- Preparation of financial statements (for sole traders, partnerships, companies, trusts) as required.
- Routine bookkeeping duties bank reconciliations, general ledger maintenance, data entries.
- Support with Corporate Secretarial services: issuing annual company statements, processing share transfers, director changes, and other company-detail updates using corporate-registry software (CAS or equivalent).
- Administration of Self-Managed Super Funds (SMSFs) preparing and maintaining SMSF records using appropriate software (e.g. BGL).
- Daily admin support: assisting with bookkeeping and accounting tasks in Xero for clients and supporting principal partner as needed with ad-hoc tasks.
- Liaising with clients for information gathering, responding to queries, and ensuring compliance deadlines are met.
