The Accounting Assistant is responsible for providing support to the accounting department by performing clerical and administrative tasks, processing financial transactions, maintaining accurate records, and assisting in the preparation of reports. The role helps ensure that the companys financial operations run smoothly and comply with accounting standards and company policies.
Key Responsibilities
- Transaction Processing
- Record and process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions.
- Prepare vouchers, invoices, receipts, and payment requests.
- Monitor and reconcile company expenses, reimbursements, and petty cash.
- Recordkeeping & Documentation
- Maintain accurate and organized accounting records and filing systems.
- Encode journal entries and update ledgers as required.
- Assist in reconciling bank statements and other financial records.
- Reporting & Compliance
- Assist in the preparation of financial reports, schedules, and statements.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, accounting standards, and government regulations.
- Support audits by providing necessary documentation and reports.
- Administrative Support
- Handle correspondence and communicate with suppliers, clients, and internal departments regarding billing and payments.
- Provide general clerical support to the Finance team.
- Perform other accounting and administrative tasks as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (or currently taking up relevant courses).
- Preferably with at least 1 year of accounting or bookkeeping experience (fresh graduates are welcome to apply).
- Basic knowledge of accounting principles and practices.
- Proficient in MS Excel and familiar with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, or similar).
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and accuracy in work.
