Role Overview:
Responsible for financial monitoring, reporting, and control of construction projects from start to close-out. Ensures accurate cost tracking, revenue recognition, compliance, and coordination with project and finance teams.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Project Cost & Budget Control
- Monitor budgets, actual costs, and variances
- Track and reconcile expenses (materials, labor, subcontractors, overhead)
- Review POs, RFPs, and disbursements
- Validate budget availability before approvals
2. Revenue Recognition & Billing
- Prepare Percentage of Completion (POC) computations
- Record/reconcile Contract Assets & Liabilities
- Coordinate billing schedules and progress billings
- Ensure revenue recognition per accounting standards
3. Financial Reporting
- Prepare monthly project financial reports (cost-to-complete, margin analysis, WIP schedules)
- Assist in management reports for Finance, COO, ExCom
- Support audit and tax compliance schedules
4. Cross-Functional Coordination
- Work with Project Managers, Engineers, Procurement, Finance
- Attend project meetings for financial alignment
- Coordinate payment processing, accruals, reconciliations
5. Compliance & Controls
- Ensure adherence to internal policies and authorization matrix
- Maintain documentation for audit
- Assist in VAT, withholding tax, and related schedules
Experience & Competency Requirements:
Experience:
- 24 years in accounting (construction/project-based preferred)
- Project costing, budgeting, progress billing experience
- Familiarity with contract accounting & POC method
- Audit support and tax documentation exposure
- Knowledge of accounting systems (SAP, QuickBooks preferred)
