About the Role
We are hiring a high-performance YouTube Strategist to drive aggressive, discovery-led growth for one of the fastest-growing YouTube channels in Australia in the property and economics space. You will be responsible for scaling a channel driven by discovery-led growth, where a significant share of viewership comes from non-subscribers via Browse and Suggested, powered by strong packaging, positioning, and content strategy.
Your mandate is clear: maximise reach, increase view velocity, and accelerate subscriber growth through high-performing long-form content.
Core Responsibilities
1. Video Packaging (Primary Lever)
- Own titles and thumbnails end-to-end for every upload
- Develop high-CTR title frameworks driven by curiosity, urgency, and narrative tension
- Direct thumbnail concepts including message hierarchy, visual contrast, and click triggers
- Run structured A/B testing on titles and thumbnails to optimise CTR
- Iterate rapidly based on performance data to continuously improve packaging
2. Discovery-Led Growth
- Build strategies that consistently drive non-subscriber viewership
- Scale content through Browse and Suggested traffic
- Create repeatable formats that expand reach beyond the existing audience
- Drive videos to consistently exceed subscriber reach benchmarks
3. Content Strategy & Ideation
- Identify high-opportunity topics using news cycles, search demand, and competitor analysis
- Translate economic and property insights into compelling, high-retention video concepts
- Ensure every video has a strong hook, clear payoff, and audience relevance
- Partner with scriptwriters and editors to execute on strategy
4. Analytics & Performance Optimisation
- Analyse CTR, retention curves, watch time, and traffic sources
- Identify winning patterns and systemise them into repeatable strategies
- Diagnose underperformance with clear, data-backed actions
- Use YouTube Studio and supporting tools to drive decision-making
5. Platform Mastery
- Maintain a strong understanding of YouTube's recommendation system
- Apply insights from Browse, Suggested, and Home feed behaviour
- Continuously test and refine strategies based on platform shifts
