JOB SUMMARY
We are seeking a highly motivated On-Site Construction Mechanical Engineer/Technician to join our wind turbine supplier team for utility-scale wind power projects. This position is responsible for supervising and supporting mechanical aspects of wind turbine installation and commissioning on behalf of the supplier, ensuring that work is performed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with technical standards and project specifications.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Supervise and coordinate mechanical installation activities on-site, including the assembly and erection of wind turbine components (towers, nacelles, hubs, blades), act as the on-site Mechanical point of contact, for all mechanical installation activities of Wind Turbines supplied by the company.
- Perform strict control to Quality regarding mechanical installation, make sure all Work Instructions are performed by installation contractor, with proper photos, records are delivered right after each activity, and correct method are followed during installation.
- Supervise installation contractors daily work and ensure proper installation of mechanical components, including special process control such as shaft alignment, heavy lifting, anti-vibration.
- Take over from Civil handover and verify acceptance of foundation.
- Review and interpret mechanical Work Instructions, drawings, technical specifications, and installation procedures.
- Monitor and report on daily progress, mechanical issues, and project milestones to the project management team.
- Document and report quality non-conformities and ensure proper closure through corrective measures.
- Support the commissioning team with functional and mechanical testing of wind turbines and balance-of-plant mechanical systems.
- Identify and troubleshoot mechanical issues during installation and commissioning, proposing corrective actions where needed.
- Involve in final Walk Down and manage to clear electrical punch list.
- Coordinate with internal teams (engineering, commissioning, quality, and HSE), EPC contractors, grid operators, and clients to ensure successful project delivery.
- Learn and understand from all installation process and be able to guide Operation and Maintenance.
- Ensure adherence to health, safety, and environmental (HSE) policies and procedures.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCES
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in mechanical construction, preferably in wind energy or large-scale infrastructure projects.
- Quick learning, with hands-on experience of Wind Turbine knowledge is preferred. Prior experience working with or for a wind turbine OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) is highly desirable.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, lifting operations, and rotating machinery.
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical and structural drawings.
- Proven ability to manage installation team and coordinate with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced, site-based environment.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and project management software; experience with CAD tools is a plus.
- Willingness to work on remote project sites, sometimes under challenging conditions.
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Based on-site at wind farm construction locations; frequent work at heights and around heavy equipment. Routine interaction with team mainly from China and local. May involve rotational shifts and extended hours during key project phases.
- Must adhere to strict HSE practices and wear personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
- For construction project is 6 working days per week.
