JOB SUMMARY
We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated On-Site Construction Manager to join our wind turbine project team for utility-scale wind power projects. This role involves working closely with project managers, engineers, crane operators, and civil contractors to ensure all construction and erection activities are planned, coordinated, and executed safely, on schedule, and in accordance with project specifications and quality requirements.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Evaluate and review lifting and erection schemes for wind turbine components, including tower sections, nacelle, and blades, ensuring technical feasibility and compliance with safety standards.
- Coordinate with civil contractors on the design and preparation of crane hardstanding areas, including load-bearing capacity verification, surface preparation, and drainage requirements.
- Perform or review crane load calculations, ground bearing pressure assessments, and outrigger pad sizing to ensure safe crane setup and operation.
- Supervise all heavy lift operations on site, including crawler crane and mobile crane mobilization, positioning, and rigging activities.
- Prepare and review construction and lifting documentation, including Lifting Plans, Method Statements, Risk Assessments, and Work Procedures.
- Coordinate with engineering teams to verify that hardstanding design meets crane manufacturer requirements and geotechnical site conditions.
- Monitor construction progress against the project schedule and proactively identify and resolve issues affecting erection works.
- Interface with the turbine supplier's erection team, subcontractors, and third-party crane companies to ensure alignment on technical and operational requirements.
- Ensure all lifting operations comply with applicable international standards (e.g., ASME B30, EN 13000, or equivalent local regulations).
- Conduct pre-lift meetings and toolbox talks prior to all critical lifting activities.
- Maintain accurate site records, daily construction reports, and progress documentation for submission to the Project Manager.
- Support the QHSE team in enforcing safety standards during all heavy lift and civil works activities.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCES
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum 5+ years of construction management experience in wind farm or large-scale infrastructure projects, with hands-on experience in heavy lift and turbine erection works.
- Demonstrated ability to evaluate and approve crane lifting schemes and erection methodologies for utility-scale wind turbines.
- Solid understanding of hardstanding design principles, ground bearing pressure calculations, and coordination with geotechnical and civil teams.
- Proficient in crane load calculation methods and familiar with crane manufacturer load charts (e.g., Liebherr, Manitowoc, XCMG, SANY).
- Experience preparing and reviewing construction documentation including lifting plans, method statements, ITPs, and risk assessments.
- Familiarity with international lifting standards and wind turbine erection requirements.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and project management tools; experience with AutoCAD is an advantage.
- Strong leadership, coordination, and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple contractors simultaneously.
- English proficiency is required; knowledge of local language is a strong advantage.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Based on-site at wind farm construction locations; routine interaction with team mainly from China and local. May involve rotational shifts and extended hours during key project phases. For construction project is 6 working days per week.
