Overview
We are seeking an experienced Workplace Safety & Health (WSH) Manager to lead and oversee the organisation's workplace health and safety programmes, ensuring a safe working environment and compliance with applicable regulatory requirements. The successful candidate will drive safety initiatives, implement risk management strategies, and promote a strong safety culture across operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain workplace safety and health policies, procedures, and management systems in accordance with organisational and regulatory requirements.
- Lead the implementation of occupational health and safety programmes to ensure a safe and healthy working environment.
- Conduct workplace risk assessments, hazard identification, and safety inspections, and recommend appropriate control measures.
- Monitor compliance with workplace safety regulations, industry standards, and internal safety policies.
- Investigate workplace incidents, accidents, and near misses, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Lead emergency preparedness planning, business continuity support, and safety drills where required.
- Develop and deliver workplace safety awareness programmes, training sessions, and safety campaigns for employees and contractors.
- Monitor safety performance indicators and prepare management reports on safety compliance and improvement initiatives.
- Collaborate with project teams, contractors, vendors, and operational stakeholders to ensure safety requirements are incorporated into work activities.
- Support internal and external safety audits and regulatory inspections, ensuring timely closure of audit findings.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or Diploma in Occupational Safety & Health, Environmental Health, Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 10 years of demonstrated experience in occupational health and safety management.
- Proven experience implementing workplace safety policies and health management programmes.
- Experience conducting risk assessments, hazard identification, and safety audits.
- Strong knowledge of occupational health and safety legislation, regulatory compliance, and industry best practices.
- Experience investigating incidents and implementing risk mitigation measures.
- Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and leadership skills.
- Ability to influence safety culture across multidisciplinary teams and operational environments.
Preferred Qualifications
- Registered Workplace Safety & Health Officer (WSHO) or equivalent professional certification.
- Lead Auditor certification for ISO 45001 Occupational Health & Safety Management Systems or equivalent.
- Experience supporting large-scale infrastructure, engineering, construction, transportation, manufacturing, healthcare, or government projects.
- Familiarity with integrated management systems and enterprise risk management frameworks.
