About the Role
The WordPress Development Assistant Manager supports the management and execution of web development projects using WordPress. This role oversees the technical team, ensures high-quality deliverables, and assists in the planning, development, and maintenance of the company's websites and digital platforms. The position requires a balance of technical expertise, leadership ability, and project management skills.
Responsibilities
- Team Leadership & Coordination
- Supervise and mentor WordPress developers and designers.
- Assist in resource allocation, task assignments, and performance evaluations.
- Support the Web Development Manager in setting technical standards and workflows.
- Technical Development
- Oversee and participate in front-end and back-end WordPress development.
- Customize themes and plugins to meet specific project requirements.
- Ensure site performance optimization, responsiveness, and security compliance.
- Manage version control using Git and other development tools.
- Project Management
- Collaborate with project managers and designers to define project scope and deliverables.
- Track development progress, ensuring deadlines and quality standards are met.
- Review and test websites for bugs and performance issues prior to deployment.
- Quality Assurance & Maintenance
- Implement best practices for coding, testing, and documentation.
- Conduct code reviews and maintain consistency across projects.
- Manage site updates, backups, and security monitoring.
- Stakeholder Communication
- Liaise with internal teams and external clients to gather requirements and provide updates.
- Translate technical requirements into business-friendly language.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Experience:
- 46 years of WordPress development experience.
- 12 years in a supervisory or team lead capacity preferred.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in PHP, HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, and MySQL.
- Experience with popular page builders (e.g., Elementor, WPBakery).
- Familiarity with REST APIs, WooCommerce, and custom post types.
- Knowledge of SEO principles and performance optimization.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines is an advantage.
- Soft Skills:
- Strong leadership and communication abilities.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
