Job Description

Job Summary

The Compute Administrator will be responsible for managing and supporting critical infrastructure components across multiple Market Performance Partnership environments. This role involves proactive monitoring, troubleshooting, and optimization of compute resources, faxing solutions, secure file transfer platforms, and printing systems. Includes overseeing environments health and facilitation of high severity incidents to improve the state of service availability and continuity.

Document all hardware, application, facility, etc. problems and take corrective action as required.The ideal candidate will have strong technical expertise in Windows server administration, virtualization technologies, and enterprise printing solutions, with additional skills in Citrix and Linux considered a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Monitoring and troubleshooting server performance. Troubleshooting system and server errors. Reviewing system error logs and user-reported errors. Analyzes, logs, tracks, and resolves software/hardware matters of significance pertaining to networking connectivity issues, servers, and applications to meet business needs
  • Administer and maintainWindows and Linux servers, ensuring high availability, security, and compliance.
  • PerformOS installationsand manageserver builds(Linux/Windows/VM/Physical).
  • Managevirtualization platforms (VMware vSphere)including:
  • vMotion and Storage vMotion
  • VM deployment from templates and OVF
  • VMTools/hardware upgrades
  • VM snapshots
  • vCenter and ESXi upgrades
  • Support and maintainfaxing solutions(RightFax, XMedius) andsecure file transfer platforms(MoveIt, WSFTP, GoAnywhere).
  • Administerenterprise printing solutions(Windows Printer, VPSX Printing, Printer Logic, HP Printing).
  • Manageemail systems (O365)and user administration (AD, LDAP, NIS).
  • Monitor infrastructure performance and availability; identify and resolve potential bottlenecks.
  • Implementsecurity best practices, including patching and vulnerability remediation (Tanium, WSUS).
  • Performperiodic maintenance activitiessuch as Rapid Recovery (RR), hardware/firmware upgrades, and OS patching.
  • Troubleshoot servers through console (ILO/HMC experience preferred).
  • Maintain detailed documentation of configurations, processes, and troubleshooting guides.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of compute and related services.
  • Participate in24x7 operations supportand on-call rotation.
  • Ensure compliance withITIL processes(Incident, Change, Problem Management).

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • 710 years of experiencein compute administration and infrastructure operations (L2+ support).
  • Strong knowledge ofMH: Windows Server Administration(2016, 2019, 2022) and (Linux OS(RHEL 6/7/8)-nice to have).
  • Hands-on experience withMH:VMware vSphereand virtualization technologies.
  • Working experience withNH:AIX LPAR migrations, Solaris Zones, and Linux virtual machines.
  • Familiarity withNH:Infrastructure as Code (IaC)tools (Chef, Jenkins, Terraform).
  • Scripting experience inNH:Shell, Python, PowerShell(preferred).
  • Familiarity with ticketing tools (ServiceNow, Rally).
  • Knowledge offile system management (LVM)and backup monitoring.
  • Strong understanding ofUNIX system files, boot processes, and run levels.
  • Nice to have: Experience withCitrix administrationand additional Linux server management.
  • Excellent troubleshooting, problem-solving, and communication skills.
