Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced Wills & Estates Lawyer with strong Australian legal experience to support our client's Wills & Estates practice. This opportunity is suited to mid-level to senior lawyers with hands-on experience across wills, estate planning, probate, and deceased estate administration.

The ideal candidate will be confident managing matters independently, drafting complex estate planning documentation, and providing practical and empathetic advice to clients. The successful candidate will possess strong technical legal skills, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to manage sensitive client matters professionally and efficiently.

Previous experience working with an Australian law firm or directly supporting Australian Wills & Estates matters is required.

Responsibilities:

  • Advise clients on Wills, estate planning, succession planning, and estate administration matters.
  • Draft, review, and amend Wills, Powers of Attorney, Enduring Powers of Attorney, testamentary trusts, and other estate planning documents.
  • Manage deceased estate administration matters from initial instruction through to final distribution.
  • Prepare probate and Letters of Administration applications and associated documentation.
  • Advise executors, administrators, beneficiaries, and families regarding their rights and obligations.
  • Assist with the identification, collection, transfer, and distribution of estate assets.
  • Provide advice on succession planning and appropriate estate planning structures.
  • Liaise with clients, executors, beneficiaries, financial institutions, accountants, financial advisers, and other stakeholders.
  • Conduct legal research and prepare legal advice, correspondence, and supporting documentation.
  • Manage client files, critical dates, and legal documentation accurately and efficiently.
  • Identify and address legal risks and complexities arising during estate planning and administration.
  • Assist with contested estates, estate litigation, and succession disputes where required.
  • Provide guidance and support to junior lawyers, paralegals, or legal support staff where appropriate.
  • Deliver professional, responsive, and empathetic client service while maintaining strict confidentiality.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Laws (LLB/JD) or equivalent legal qualification.
  • Mid-Level: 3–5 years of relevant legal experience, with substantial experience in Wills & Estates.
  • Senior-Level: 5+ years of relevant legal experience, with demonstrated ability to independently manage complex Wills & Estates matters.
  • Previous experience working with an Australian law firm or directly supporting Australian Wills & Estates matters is required.
  • Strong knowledge of Australian Wills & Estates law, succession law, probate, and estate administration processes.
  • Demonstrated experience drafting Wills, Powers of Attorney, testamentary trusts, and other estate planning documents.
  • Strong experience independently managing probate and deceased estate administration matters.
  • Experience advising clients on complex estate planning and succession matters is highly desirable.
  • Experience with contested estates, estate litigation, or succession disputes is advantageous.
  • Exposure to trusts, asset protection, or tax considerations associated with estate planning is highly regarded.
  • Excellent legal drafting, research, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong client-facing and relationship management skills, particularly when handling sensitive matters.
  • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and ability to manage multiple matters and competing deadlines.
  • Experience with Australian legal practice management and document management systems is advantageous.
  • Ability to work independently in a fully remote environment.
