About The Job Welding Quality Assistant
PURPOSE
The Welding Quality Assistant is responsible for the leg work of weld quality assurance and compliance, destructive and non-destructive test, and welder qualifications ensuring conformance of production to applicable procedures, industry codes and standards.
He/She is also responsible for providing support in establishing and improving weld inspection process and controls to achieve and continuously improve quality of constructed vessels
Qualifications & Experience
- Graduate of Engineering course or equivalent
- Minimum of 1-2 years experience in quality control, inspection, auditing and testing in a shipbuilding or similar industries
- Highly conversant on shipbuilding processes and operations, preferably Aluminium shipbuilding
- Experienced in Class Survey and statutory requirements for new shipbuilding
- Strong working knowledge on technical drawing (structural, piping, schematic) interpretations
- Well versed on welding inspection and NDT methods. Preferably knowledgeable on welding codes and standards (ASME, AWS, ISO etc).
- Well versed on various welding processes, Welding Procedure Qualification Test and Welder Qualification Test
- Ability to interface effectively with all levels of organization and external customers
- Average skills on Microsoft Office Application (Word, Excel, Powerpoint)
