About the role. . .

The Web Developer's primary role is to securely and efficiently develop organizational information systems and software applications under the guidance of the Application Development Manager. This individual is also responsible for maintaining, supporting, and upgrading existing systems and applications, working closely with the Service Desk team in providing Tier 3 level IT support to all application-related issues. They will apply proven communication skills and knowledge of best practices to guide his/her development activities on issues related to the design, development, and deployment of mission-critical information and software systems, as well as expertise in problem-solving and root-cause analysis skills in addressing critical production issues.

Key Responsibilities:

• Execute the development and deployment of new applications, systems software, and/or enhancements to existing applications throughout the enterprise.
• Execute testing activities of new software programs and applications.
• Execute application development (programming) tasks set out by the Application Development Manager
• Identify and resolve program/system errors.
• Design, develop, and install enhancements and upgrades to systems and application software.
• Liaise with network administrators and software engineers to assist with quality assurance, program logic, and data processing.
• Execute root-cause analysis on reported application issues and resolve complex technical issues related to software applications within reasonable SLA period.
• Collaborate closely with software development teams to provide feedback on recurring issues and contribute to the improvement of the application.
• Create and maintain documentation for known issues, troubleshooting procedures, and solutions. Contribute knowledge base articles to facilitate efficient issue resolution.
• Assist in developing and implementing policies and procedures for all IT systems
• Maintain an up to date understanding of the current cybersecurity landscape and the latest information technology security trends

Qualifications / Skills:

• Four-year college diploma or university degree in web application development

• Certifications or demonstrated experience in any of the following

• Web User Interface (UI) design & development
• Web Services (REST, SOAP)
• Javascript, JQuery, HTML, CSS, Web Programming,
• Version Control: Github
• Database Management: MySQL
• Server management tools (Linux based any of the ff): AWS, Plesk, Cpanel
• Software development
• PHP Programming and Cake / Laravel framework
• Cyber security, Application security, and API's
• With 3+ years actual experience in software development and/or programming design and systems management.
• Knowledgeable with automated software and system management tools.
• Knowledgeable of system and software quality assurance best practices and methodologies.
• Knowledgeable in programming languages such as PHP programming language, Cake and Laravel framework.
• Good time management skills and/or exposure to Agile methodologies, project lifecycle models, etc.
• Knowledge of database design and file management techniques.
• Working knowledge of network and PC operating systems, including Windows.
• Knowledge of network hardware, protocols, and standards.
• Ability to communicate ideas in both technical and user-friendly language.
• Ability to conduct research into application development issues and products.
• Keen attention to detail.
• Able to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
